Enis and Freeman combine for 64 to push 11th-ranked Railsplitters past rival Carson-Newman

Harrogate, TN – Four days after an 87-79 victory on the road at Coker, the 11th ranked Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team was back in action on its home floor for its second-to-last home and regular season game, playing host to rival Carson-Newman, seeking the regular season sweep. The Railsplitters entered the game atop the South Atlantic Conference standings with an overall record of 21-4 with a 19-3 mark in conference play. Carson-Newman sat third in the conference standings with an overall record of 20-8, including a 15-7 mark in conference play.

You couldn't have asked for a much more even game in the first half. Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial traded buckets for the duration of the half. The Eagles inevitably jumped out to a four-point lead 26-22 with 7:22 remaining in the first half. The Railsplitters would fail to draw any closer and ended up trailing 36-42 at the half.

The first few minutes of the second half had a very similar feel as both teams matched one another bucket-for-bucket. Lincoln Memorial began to chip into the Carson-Newman lead as the score grew to 57-58 with 11:19 remaining in the game. The Railsplitters regained the lead 65-63 and never gave the lead back to the Eagles. The Lincoln Memorial lead grew to as many as 13 points with just two minutes remaining in the game. The Railsplitters closed the game to secure the season sweep of the Eagles and improve to 22-4 on the season with a 20-3 mark in conference play. With the victory, Lincoln Memorial secured at least a share of the South Atlantic Conference regular season title for the sixth consecutive season. The Railsplitters host Limestone on Saturday. A win against the Saints would give Lincoln Memorial the outright regular season title.

Wes Enis erupted for 35 points, connecting on seven three pointers, setting a new season-high and matching his career high. Elyjah Freeman followed closely with 29 points and nine rebounds, giving him 65 points and 20 rebounds in two games against Carson-Newman this season. Connor Jordan turned in a solid performance with 14 points. Jordan Walters added eight points and six rebounds. Mahmoud Bangura "Mo" chipped in five points. EJ Smith and Osmar Garcia-Araujo added two points to round out scoring for the Railsplitters.
