Lady Railsplitters Fall to UVA Wise

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters fall to the UVA Wise Cavaliers Wednesday evening 71-80.

In the first quarter, the Cavaliers outscored Lincoln Memorial 18-14, with Matty Tanner scoring half of the team's points for the quarter. The second quarter was a battle for both teams, as both teams scored over 20 points, with Lincoln Memorial scoring 21 and UVA Wise just above them with adding 22 points. The score going into halftime was 40-35 with the Cavaliers with the 5 point lead. During the first half, there was 6 lead changes and 2 ties. LMU went 42% from the field, 38% from behind the arch, and 100% from the free-throw line in the opening half.

The third quarter was the only quarter where the Lady Railsplitters outscored the Cavaliers, with Lincoln Memorial posting up 20 points and UVA Wise recording 19. Lexi Patty scored 9/20 LMU's points in the third. In the fourth quarter, UVA Wise scored 21 points while LMU scored 16, giving the Cavaliers the win 80-71.

Five different players registered double-digit points on the evening: Tanner with 19 points and 3 rebounds; Alexa Smiddy with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and team-high 7 assists; Patty with 13 points, 4 rebounds and a team-high 3 steals; Kamil Collier with 12 points and team-high 7 rebounds, and Jamyah Winter with 11 points. Caroline Sikkink and Federica Lagana finished out the scoring with Sikkink posting 4 points and 4 rebounds and Lagana with 1 point and 3 rebounds. Asia Barr posted 2 rebounds and 2 assists, and Emily Savage and Keiara Anderson each registered 1 rebound.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 39.3% from the field, 32.1% from behind the arch, and 14/17 from the free-throw line. LMU had 15 second chance points, 26 points in the paint, 4 fast break points, and 17 points off of UVA Wise turnovers.

With the loss, LMU moves to 9-12 overall and 8-10 in the SAC.

Their next game will be a week from today, as they travel to Emory & Henry on Wednesday, February 12th with tip-off at 5:30 pm.
