Game Recap: Softball |

LMU Softball Drops Two on Saturday

Albertville, AL- Lincoln Memorial would fall just short in both of their contests on Saturday against Delta State and #17 Trevecca Nazarene.

Ryan Williams would get the leadoff walk to get a runner on for the Splitters in game one of the day. A single from Anna Kate Reichter would advance her to second followed by contact from Kristin Griffin to advance them both. Jordann Reagan would send one out to center far enough for Williams to tag up and cross the plate, giving the Splitters the 1-0 lead. Delta State would answer, crossing three in the top of the second to flip the lead. The Lady Statesmen would tack on another in the third to extend the lead to 1-4.

Lincoln Memorial would come up in the fourth and find a few hits from Hannah McMeen and Nicole Couvertiere. Hanna Bogoski would follow them up, knocking an RBI single to right to score McMeen and return the game to a two-run lead. Delta State would square up for a few more hits, earning three more runs and creating some separation from the Splitters. The bottom of the sixth would see another McMeen hit followed by a base hit from Skylar Jacob to put two on. A couple of wild pitches would advance the runner and eventually score McMeen to give LMU some life. Bogoski's second hit of the day would score Jacob, enough to bring the game into reach going into the seventh. Two more Lady Statesmen runs would be enough, however, as they would hand LMU just their second loss of the season.

The second game would be a face-off with #17 Trevecca Nazarene. Anna Kate Reichter would put the Splitters out in front early, hitting her first home run of the season to give LMU the one-run advantage. A couple of hits for the Trojans in the bottom half of the inning to even up the tally. Neither team would find any gaps for the next couple of innings, leaving the game tied going into the bottom of the fourth. An error from the Splitters would give Trevecca an unearned run in the frame to take the one-run lead and be followed by a couple of RBI hits in the bottom of the fifth to make it 1-4. A single in the seventh by McMeen would try to start the rally but fall short as the game would finish in favor of the Trojans.

Lincoln Memorial falls to 4-3 on the season and will return for the final day of the Charger Chillout on Sunday against Christian Brothers at 11 AM (CST) and Montevallo at 1:30 PM (CST).
