Harrogate, TN - Four days after a 79-69 victory at home over UVA-Wise, the 8th-ranked Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team was back in action at home, playing host to the Newberry Wolves on Sunday. The Railsplitters entered the game with an overall record of 17-3, including a 15-2 mark in conference play. Newberry entered the game with an overall record of 10-12, including a 7-11 mark in conference play.
Lincoln Memorial's defense completely shut down Newberry in the first half, holding the Wolves to just 17 points on 29.2% shooting from the floor, including an 11.1% mark from long range. Meanwhile, the Railsplitters connected on 43.3% of their shots from the floor, including a 35.7% mark from long range. Lincoln Memorial turned 14 Newberry turnovers into 17 points and dominated the paint 16-10 in route to a 38-17 halftime lead..
The second half was much more competitive, seeing the Wolves and Railsplitters match each other bucket-for-bucket in the second half, with both teams adding 37 points each to their scoring totals in the back half of the game. Newberry improved to a 44% clip from the floor, including a 40% mark from long range in the second half to remain competitive. However, the damage had been done by halftime, seeing Lincoln Memorial secure its fourth consecutive victory, 75-54, improving to 18-3 on the season with a 16-2 mark in conference play, good for first in the conference.
Lincoln Memorial was led in scoring by
Wes Enis with 17 points. He also added five rebounds and three assists.
Thomas Allard added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Jordan Walters and
Osmar Garcia-Araujo added 10 points each. Walters added nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double. Garcia-Araujo added two boards.
EJ Smith and
Connor Jordan chipped in nine points apiece and four rebounds each.
Elyjah Freeman added seven points and four rebounds.
Babacar Thiam added two points and one rebound to round out scoring for the Railsplitters.
