Women's Basketball Finishes Regular Season With Win Against Limestone

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team defeats the Limestone Saints for their 2nd consecutive won going into the SAC post-season tournament 72-38.

The Lady Railsplitters dominated defensively in the first half, only allowing the Saints to post 15 points the entire first half. In the first quarter, Lincoln Memorial scored 19 points compared to Limetsone's 8, with Kamil Collier posting 9 points in the first alone.  Lincoln Memorial had the lead going into halftime 39-15. The second was much like the first, with LMU outscoring Limestone 20-7. In the first quarter, the Lady Railsplitters went 14-25 from the field, 5-14 from behind the arch, and 6-7 from the charity stripe.

The third quarter was more of a battle between the two teams, with Limestone registering 16 points and LMU scoring 18. The fourth quarter was a low scoring quarter for both teams, as Limestone scored single digits with 7 points and LMU scored 15. The final score would be 38-72 with LMU earning their 12th conference win of the season.

Four players scored double-digits in today's contest, with Collier leading the team with 18 points and team-high 7 rebounds. Alexa Smiddy was next with 15 points, along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Matty Tanner recorded 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Asia Barr tallied 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Dominique Rodriguez and Jamyah Winter finished the afternoon with 5 points each, with Rodriguez also grabbing 5 rebounds. Caroline Sikkink and Emily Savage rounded out the scoring with 2 points each, and Sikkink also posted 5 rebounds.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 44.1% from the field, 32.4% from the three, and 9/13 from the free-throw line. LMU has 9 second chance points, 28 points in the paint, 8 fast break points, 22 points off of Limestone turnovers, 12 points from the bench, and out rebounded the Saints 40-33.

With the win, the Lady Railsplitters finish the regular season with a 13-14 overall record and a 12-12 SAC record and enter the SAC post-season tournament with a 2-game win streak under their belt.

Their next game will be in the South Atlantic Conference 2025 Basketball Tournament, as they play as the #7 seed facing #2 seed Carson-Newman on March 4th at 7:30 pm in Rock Hill, SC.
