Game Recap: Softball |

Splitter Softball Sweeps Cobras on the Road

Hartsville, SC- Lincoln Memorial Softball would take both in today's series against Coker University, winning the first 5-1 and earning the shutout 3-0 victory in the second.

LMU would start the scoring in game one. Contact from Anna Kate Reichter and Kristin Griffin would give the Splitters two aboard in the top of the first, both advancing on a wild pitch in the next at-bat. Hanna Bogoski would score Reichter, Jordann Reagan following to cross Griffin as LMU would take the 2-0 lead. Lincoln Memorial would load the bases in the top of the third, but it wouldn't be until the fourth to plate another run. A sacrifice fly would be that one, as Reichter would make contact to score Alyssa Williams. Bogoski would get aboard again in the top of the fifth, advancing to scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Reagan. Score she would, as Hannah McMeen would step up and send a homer over the wall to make the score 5-0 in favor of Lincoln Memorial. Coker would find a home run of their own to make it 5-1, but the LMU defense and pitching would close out the win. Halle Grace Patton would strike out five in the complete game outing.

Patton would return to the circle and get the start in game two as well. LMU would put up their first runs in this contest in the top of the third. It would begin with Reichter drawing a walk and then stealing second. Griffin would single to score her, then advance to third after a Bogoski bunt single. McMeen would earn another RBI on the day, scoring Griffin on a base hit. The top of the fifth would see Jordann Reagan earning her first home run of the season, sending a solo shot over the wall to extend the LMU lead to 3-0. Patton and her defense would keep the lead, giving the Splitters the series sweep and Patton her 14th complete game and 14th win.

Lincoln Memorial moves to 19-8 with the pair of victories, going 3-3 in conference play. They will return for more conference action on Friday, March 14th, for a 2 PM/4 PM doubleheader in Harrogate against Lenoir-Rhyne.
