Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team defeats the Coker Cobras 20-3 Saturday afternoon for their 2
nd conference win of the season.
Scoring started quick for LMU as
Josie Tinnerello tallies her first goal of the match with 11:19 remaining in the first quarter. Nearly a minute later with 10:20 remaining,
Amber Kirkpatrick records her first goal of the match to extend the lead 2-0. The two goal scorers would connect as Tinnerello secures the brace with 8:50 remaining, with Kirkpatrick earning the assist.
Ryan Smith adds her first goal of the match as she scores a free-position goal with 4:57 remaining.
Jalee Davis registers a goal to extend LMU's lead to 5 with 4:11 remaining in the first, with the assist coming from
Jaedyn Ryba.
Jaiden Jaynes tallies her first goal of the match with 3:31 remaining, unassisted. Kirkpatrick gives herself the brace as she scores the last goal of the quarter with 0:21 remaining, giving Lincoln Memorial the lead going into the second quarter 7-0.
After a rain delay in the second quarter, the Railsplitters begin the scoring once again as Tinnerello records a hat trick with scoring her third goal of the match with 7:52 remaining, with Davis earning the assist. Not even a minute later with 6:52 remaining, Ryba tallies her first goal of the match. 40 seconds later, Kirkpatrick earn herself the hat trick with her third goal of the match with 6:01 remaining with Jaynes getting the assist. With 4:27 remaining, Davis extends the lead to 11 as she gives herself the brace. Smith also tallies a brace, with Kirkpatrick with the assist, as she adds her second goal of the match with 2:07 left in the quarter. With the last two minutes scoreless, the score going into halftime would be 0-12 with Lincoln Memorial in the large lead.
LMU was the first to score once again in the third quarter, as Jaynes scores the first goal of the quarter, with Kirkpatrick earning her third assist of the match with 11:06 remaining. Jaynes starts a scoring run of her own as she scores the next goal for Lincoln Memorial with 9:22 remaining.
Briana Martinez puts herself on the board as she scores her first goal of the match with 6:52 remaining, with Jaynes tallying her second assist.
Lainey Hockersmith does the same as she records her first goal of the match less than a minute later with 5:17 remaining.
Emma Limestahl also adds herself to the board with scoring her first goal of the match with 3:52 remaining. Smith finishes out the third quarter as she extends the lead to 18 with 1:52 remaining, making the score 0-18 with LMU in the lead going into the final quarter.
Coker finally picks up the offensive momentum and begins the fourth quarter by MacMillian scoring Coker's first goal of the match with 14:11 remaining. The Railsplitters respond by extending the lead by 2 more goals with Ryba earning a brace as she scores with 12:14 remaining, and Kirkpatrick tallying her fourth goal of the match with 7:36 remaining. The Cobras would have the final say as they add 2 more goals: Halcro with 5:49 remaining, and Fontana with 3:02 remaining. Coker's late scoring wouldn't be enough as Lincoln Memorial takes the win 20-3

Kirkpatrick would be the team-leader in goals and assists with 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points. Tinnerello, Jaynes, and Smith would all finish the day with a hat trick for 3 points, with Jaynes also recording 2 assists for a total of 5 points for Jaynes. Ryba and Davis would both earn 3 points, as they both secured the brace and 1 assist each. To finish out the scoring, Martinez, Hockersmith, and Limestahl would all score 1 goal for 1 point.
Brookelyn Walls would finish the day leading in ground balls with 5, with Ryba being the team-leader in caused turnovers with 5. Tinnerello would lead in draw controls with 4. All 3 keepers would get some time in goal today, with
Elle Miller and
Jovie Favati earning 2 saves each.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded 29 shots, with 23 being on goal, 16 successful clears, 14 ground balls, 16 draw controls, and 5/6 free-position shots.
With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Their next match will be Wednesday, March 19
th as they host Anderson at 4 pm.
