Harrogate, TN- Lincoln Memorial sweeps Anderson in mid-week SAC softball action, earning both in sixth-inning come-from-behind fashion.Â
LMU would begin aggressive, forcing Anderson to make a play at the plate to keep the game scoreless through one. Neither team would get anything out of their base runners in the second either, keeping it knotted at zeros going into the fourth. Anderson would threaten and load the bases, but Lincoln Memorial would get out of the inning unscathed.
Jordann Reagan would use it as fuel, sending a double to lead off the bottom half of the inning. A little small ball from
Hannah McMeen would move the runner to third on the sacrifice bunt. LMU would come up empty in the inning, however, after a throw down from the catcher to third. Another runner left on would be the story of the fifth, the game staying scoreless. Anderson would be the first to change that, finding a sacrifice fly to take the 1-0 advantage.
Reagan would find some space up the middle for a base hit in the bottom of the sixth to try and start the rally.
Nicole Couvertiere would keep it going, sending one over the reach of the center fielder, forcing a close play at the plate. It would go in LMU's favor as Reagan is called safe and scores the tying run.
Alyssa Williams would step up next and find some space in shallow right for a base hit to give LMU the go-ahead run. Three-up, three-down would keep the lead and give Lincoln Memorial the victory.
Halle Grace Patton receives the win in the circle, moving to reigning SAC Pitcher of the Week to 16 wins on the season.Â
Hanna Bogoski would get things started in game two, finding the right-center gap for a stand-up double. LMU would come up empty in the half inning, however, keeping it scoreless after the first. The Trojans would plate two in the top of the second to take the early lead, forcing LMU to play from behind.
Gracie Palmer's first at-bat would result in a bunt single to start the bottom of the third and try and start a rally. Reichter's first hit of the day would follow, giving the Splitters two on, one out. AU's defense would manage to find a couple of outs, leaving the runners on and moving the game to the fourth inning. Both teams would go scoreless in the next two innings, taking it to the bottom of the sixth.
Kristin Griffin would surprise the Anderson defense with a bunt single to lead off the half-inning. Reagan would find one down the left field line and off the third base bag to give Lincoln Memorial two in scoring position. McMeen would rise to the occasion in the next at-bat, finding the left-center wall for a game-tying, two-run triple.
Alyssa Williams would earn her second go-ahead hit of the day, sending a single to center field to put LMU up 3-2 in the contest.
Halle Grace Patton would return to the circle in relief to earn the save, finishing the job that
Jasmine Kaylor started.Â
Lincoln Memorial moves to 22-9 on the season, 6-4 in conference play. They will take to the road on Thursday, March 20th, for non-conference action against King University in Bristol, TN, with the first pitch slated for 1 PM.
