Bristol, TN- Lincoln Memorial dropped both games to King University on Thursday today on the road.Â
Lincoln Memorial would struggle to get the bats going in game one. Despite finding some base runners via walks, all six would end up stranded on base.
Hanna Bogoski and
Nicole Couvertiere would get the lone base hits in the contest, Bogo singling to center in the third and Couvertiere sending one to second in the fourth. The Tornado would gradually find their way around, tallying a run in the second, three more in the third, and ending the game with a four spot in the fifth with a final score of 0-8.
The Splitters would get a little more going in the second game. King would still strike first, taking a 4-0 lead through three innings.
Hannah McMeen would lead off in the top of the fourth to start the answer, singling to third base and then advancing on contact from Couvertiere.
Alyssa Williams would send a base hit in the right-center gap to give runners on the corners. Back-to-back errors would load the bases and then score a run, giving Lincoln Memorial their first of the day.
Anna Kate Reichter's RBI single would tack on another in the next at-bat. She would be followed by
Kristin Griffin, whose HPB would earn her an RBI as LMU closes the gap to a run. King would cross another in the bottom of the fifth, but Reichter and Griffin would find themselves at the plate again, Reichter tripling and then scoring on a sacrifice fly from Griffin. Despite the scores, the Tornado would keep their own bats going, crossing five more runs in the sixth to put the game just out of reach with a 4-10 final score.Â
Lincoln Memorial falls to 22-11 on the season and will return to conference play next week to take on #17 Tusculum at 1 PM and 3 PM in Greeneville, TN.
