Men's Lacrosse Falls To The Bears

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team falls to the #9 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Saturday evening 18-20.

Lincoln Memorial was the first to put a goal on the board, as Rhodes Conroy scores the first goal less than a minute after the match starts at 14:11, unassisted. The Bears responded by tying the match back up and taking their first lead of the match, with Brusnahan adding a goal with 13:20 remaining and Madisih (Voss) scoring with 12:13 remaining. The Railsplitters tie the match back up, thanks to Alex Winters posting a goal with 10:14 remaining, with Conroy tallying the assist. L-R then finishes the quarter by adding 5 more goals: Seranno with 9:50 remaining, Powell (Serrano) with 8:51 remaining, Scott (Powell) with 7:53 remaining, Powell (Madish) with 4:09 remaining, and Huff with 1:01 remaining to make the score 2-7 going into the second quarter.

Lenoir-Rhyne starts the scoring in the second, as Brusnahan scores the first goal with 14:02 remaining, then Voss (Tomothee) with 11:37 remaining, Mancini with 11:19 remaining, and Walker with 10:25 remaining. Gavin Reid then scores LMU's third goal of the day with 7:58 remaining in the second, with the assist coming from Jack Snider. The Bears then score two more goals, with the first one coming from Mink (Staecke) with 7:35 remaining, and the second coming from Herd (Mulligan) with 6:39 remaining. Alex Wegrzyn then adds his first goal of the match with 2:43 remaining as Jenson Jones gets the assist. With that being the last goal of the quarter, the score going into halftime would be 4-13 with the Bears in the lead.

The third quarter would be the Railspltter's highest scoring quarter, as Conroy starts the quarter scoring his second goal of the day with 10:31 remaining and Koen Burdette earning the assist. L-R's Madish would score with 7:30 remaining. After that, LMU would score again with Reid adding a goal with 5:20 remaining with Jones tallying his second assist of the match. Lenoir-Rhyne would extend their lead by adding 2 more goals: O'Neal with 5:20 remaining and Powell (Kruse) with 4:49 remaining. In addition to starting out the quarter, Conroy would finish the quarter with a goal as he secures a hat trick with 2:45 remaining to make the score 7-17 going into the fourth.

The Bears would start out strong as they score 3 goals within the first 5 minutes of the fourth: Starcke with 11:23 remaining, Voss (Seranno) with 11:02 remaining, and Huff with 10:06 remaining. LMU would add their last goal of the match with Reid scoring a man-up goal and Jones earning his third assist with 7:10 remaining. L-R would score the last goal of the match with Gestole scoring with 2:04 remaining. The final score would be 8-20 with Lenoir-Rhyne taking the win.
 
Conroy would lead the day in points with 4 for 3 goals and 1 assist. Reid and Jones would finish with 3, as Reid records 3 goals and Jones tallies 3 assists. Wegrzyn, Snider, Winters, and Burdette would all get 1 point, with Wegrzyn and Winters scoring 1 goal each and Snider and Burdette each getting an assist. Haden Berry and Connor Blondin would both be the team-leaders in ground balls with 3. John Lombel, Tim Carlson, Winters, and Wegrzyn would all lead the team in caused turnovers with 1 each. Berry would win 6/19 face offs, and Brixten McKenzie would win 2/11. Jayden Herman, Connor Fitzgibbon, and Tyler Shea would all get time in goal, with Herman recording 8 saves, Fitzgibbon registering 11, and Shea getting 3.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial had 25 shots, with 13 of them being on goal, 19 successful clears, 19 ground balls, and 8 won face offs.

With the loss, LMU moves to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the SAC.

Their next match will be on Saturday, March 29th as they travel to Catawba in Salisbury, NC at 2 pm.
