Men's Volleyball Defeat Tornado In Three

Bristol, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team sweeps the King Tornado 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-16) for their 6th consecutive sweep, 7th consecutive win, and 14th win of the season.

The Railsplitters would dominate the first set, hitting a impressive .783 attack percentage and a team-high 18 kills in set one, for a 25-12 win. King would pick up the pace a little bit in the second, only trailing by 2 or 3 points in the first half of the set, but Lincoln Memorial would post a 9-3 run to give the Railsplitters the win for set two 25-17. The Railsplitters and the Tornado would battle early in the set, but a 7-2 run in the later half of the set would secure the win for set three for the Railsplitters 25-16, giving Lincoln Memorial the 3-0 match sweep.

Johan Negron and Matthew Gentry both led the night in kills with 9 each, as Gentry posted a .767 attack percentage and Negron tallied a .667 attack percentage. John Luers was the team-leader in assists with 37, and Negron and Eliel Salva Torres both had team-high 2 service aces. Gentry led in blocks with 3, accounting for 1 solo block and 2 block assists. Tate Colebaugh had the team-high in digs with 9.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial posted a .783 attack percentage in the first, .381 attack percentage in the second, and a .290 attack percentage in the third for a match attack percentage of .467. LMU posted 55 points, 43 kills, 6 service aces, 6 blocks, 41 assists, and 27 digs.

With the win, the Railsplitters move to 14-1 on the season and extended their win streak to 7.

Their next match will be just up the road to Greenville, TN for an IVA match up against Tusuclum on Tuesday March 18th at 6 pm.
