Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team swept the King Tornado 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-16) Friday evening for their 13th consecutive win and their 20th overall win of the season.
The first set was all LMU from the very beginning, as they dominated with a 12-2 run at the first whistle, that plus a match high 0.450 attack percentage ultimately giving the Railsplitters the set one win 25-12. Set two was more of a battle, as there was 5 ties and 4 lead changes up to King's 13th point. After that, Lincoln Memorial pieced together a 11-3 run to give them the win for set two 25-16. Set three was much like set one, where LMU pulled a 9-3 run to extend the lead enough to pull through the win for set three 25-16, giving Lincoln Memorial the match sweep 3-0.
Johan Negron led the team in kills with 8 for a 0.267 attack percentage, with
Ethan Morgan pulling the team-high in attack percentage with 0.800.
John Luers was the team-leader in assists with 27, and Negron had all the service aces for LMU with 6.
Matthew Gentry led in total blocks with 7, accounting for 1 solo block and 6 block assists, and
Tate Colebaugh recorded the team-high in digs with 9.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded a 0.450 attack percentage in the first, 0.318 percentage in the second, and 0.409 in the third for a match attack percentage of 0.391. They posted 55 points, 36 kills, 6 service aces, 13 blocks, 33 assists, and 32 digs.
With the win, LMU improves to 20-1 on the season.
Their next match will be in less than 24 hours as they host Catawba on Saturday, April 12th at 2 pm for Senior Day.
