Harrogate, TN - Two weeks after turning in yet another string of record-breaking performances in the Electric City Invitational at Anderson University. Lincoln Memorial will travel to Boone, NC to Appalachian State University for the App State Open on Friday. With the South Atlantic Conference Championships in just two weeks, the Railsplitters are seeking to fine-tune a few things ahead of postseason action.
"This is going to be a tune-up for the conference championships for a lot of our athletes," said assistant coach Jeff Kavalunas. "They've performed pretty well from the training we've been doing lately and have recovered well from the meet at Anderson. This is our last chance for a tune-up. We expect to see a little improvement as well. We've got a few that are also trying to perform well to even make it to the conference championships. Overall, I think we've been in a great place training-wise for the last week or so. We've just got to keep our focus heading into the final regular season meet as we move into the conference championship."
"Similar to the indoor meet we went to at Centre ahead of our indoor championships, this is where we should be rounding into form," said Director of Track and Field
Rochelle Black. "For some of them, this is their last meet of the season. For others, this is their last chance to tune some things up ahead of the conference championships. Either way, the expectations are for them to perform well. We aren't where we want to be as a whole, but everyone continues to make strides. We will get out there and try to have some fun and compete this weekend."
