Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team falls to the Wingate Bulldogs 6-16 Saturday afternoon.
The Railspliterrs were the first to put a point on the board as
Josie Tinnerello scores her first goal of the match with
Amber Kirkpatrick earning the assist with 12:40 remaining. The next goal wasn't scored until 8:48 remaining when Wingate's Buckmaster added a goal. Less than a minute later at 8:09 remaining,
Jalee Davis tallies her first goal of the match, unassisted. The Bulldogs tally the last two goals of the quarter with Millard (Blakely) adding a goal with 5:35 remaining and Buckmaster with 4:08 remaining. With the last 4 minutes of the first quarter scoreless, the score at the end of the first would be 3-2 with Wingate having the slight lead.
Unlike the first quarter, Wingate was first to score in the second quarter, with the Bulldogs recording 3 goals in the first 5 minutes: Millard with 13:20 remaining, Solero with 11:09 remaining, and Solero (Scherer) with 10:15 remaining. The next 5 minutes went by without a goal. At 4:33 remaining in the second, Tinnerello secures the brace with her second goal of the match as
Abby Durkin registers the assist. The remainder of the second was all Wingate as Benner scores with 3:49 and Scarfoliegro tallies a goal with 3:15 remaining to make the score going into halftime 8-3 with the Bulldogs in the lead.
The third quarter was much like the second, with Wingate adding 4 goals before the 8-minute mark: Benner with 14:11 remaining, Wilgeroth with 13:23 remaining, Weber (Buckmaster) with 11:28 remaining, and Allen (Scarfogliero) with 8:54 remaining. Ryan Smith tallies her first goal of the match with
Breanna Booth earning the assist, and Tinnerello recording the hat trick with her third goal of the match with 5:40 remaining. Buckmaster adds the last goal of the quarter with Buckmaster scoring with 4:30 remaining. The score going into the fourth quarter would be 13-5 with the Bulldogs in the lead.
The fourth quarter would be the least number of goals scored for both teams. Buckmaster tallies the first goal with 12:19 remaining, followed by Scherer with 11:03 remaining. Kirkpatrick would be the last goal scorer for Lincoln Memorial as she scores with 6:41 remaining. Wingate adds the last goal of the match as Scarfogliero scores with 1:29 remaining. The final score would be 16-6 with Wingate taking the win.
Tinnerello would lead in points on the afternoon with 3 points for 3 goals, followed by Kirkpatrick with 2 points for 1 goal and 1 assist. Davis, Smith, Durkin, and Booth would all finish with 1 point as Davis and Smith recording a goal each and Durkin and Booth each getting an assist.
Samantha Billingsley would be the team-leader in ground balls with 4 and in caused turnovers with 3. Davis would lead the team in draw controls with 4.
Elle Miller would be in goal and recorded 11 saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded 18 shots, with 8 being on goal, 17 successful clears, 23 ground balls, 10 draw controls, 10 caused turnovers, and 2 free position shots that both resulted in goals.
Delaney Duck recorded 1 caused turnover, and that's all she needed to record 92 career caused turnovers to become the all-time leader in career caused turnovers in LMU women's lacrosse program history.
With the loss, Lincoln Memorial moves to 7-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

th at 1 pm as they face UVA Wise at home at LMU Lacrosse Complex.
