Men's Volleyball Extends Win Streak With Win Against Lees-McRae

Banner Elk, NC - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team defeats the Lees-McRae Bobcats Tuesday evening 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23) to extend their win streak to 12 games. 

The first set was the largest set win margin of the match, as the Railsplitters posted their highest attack percentage of the match with a 0.550 percentage with only three errors. With the help of a 6-0 and 6-2 run in the set, LMU took the win for set one 25-19. Set two was more of a battle, as there was 6 ties and 5 lead changes throughout the set. Despite that, LMU rallied a 3-0 run for their last three points to give the set two win 25-21. The third set was the Bobcat's lowest attack percentage of the night with a 0.05 percentage and 7 errors. Because of that, LMU took the win for set three 25-23, giving them the match sweep 3-0. 
 
Matthew Gentry and Eliel Salva Torres both recorded team-high 8 kills, with Gentry posting a 0.600 attack percentage and Salva Torres a 0.800 attack percentage with 0 errors. John Luers led the team in assists with 35, and Gentry and Axel van Baars were the team-leaders in service aces with 2 each. Defensively, Gentry led in blocks with 4 total blocks, accounting for 2 solo blocks and 4 block assists. Van Baars tallied team-high 4 digs. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial posted a 0.550 attack percentage in the first, 0.417 in the second, and 0.364 in the third for a match attack percentage of 0.439. The Railsplitters recorded 53 points, 40 kills, 4 service aces, 9 blocks, 37 assists, and 17 digs. 

With the win, LMU improves to 19-1 on the season. 

Their next match will be at home on Friday, April 11 as they host King at 6 pm in Mary Mars Gymnasium.
