Collier Records Season High As Women's Basketball Defeats UVA Wise

Harrogate, TN - Lincoln Memorial women's basketball defeats the UVA Wise Cavaliers for their ninth conference win of the season Wednesday evening 67-50.

The two teams battled in the first quarter, as Lincoln Memorial tallied 15 points and the Cavs added 13. Kamil Collier recorded 6/17 of the points for Lincoln Memorial, along with the team going 50% from the field and beyond the arch. 

LMU gained some momentum in the second, outscoring UVA Wise 17-11. The defense was strong this quarter, as they held the Cavaliers to a 30% field goal percentage, giving the Lady Railsplitters the 32-24 lead going into halftime. 

The third quarter was LMU's highest scoring quarter and UVA Wise's lowest, as Lincoln Memorial recorded 21 points and limited the Cavs to only score six points. Collier led in double digits in the third with ten, aiding Lincoln Memorial to a 53-30 lead going into the final frame.

UVA Wise picked it up in the fourth, as they added 20 points, but Lincoln Memorial continued to push with 14. With Collier also leading this quarter with nine points, the Lady Railsplitters take the win 67-50.

Collier led the team with a career-high 27 points, along with eight rebounds. Lexi Patty and Alexa Smiddy also recorded double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Maleiya Hill added eight points, and Keiara Anderson scored six points and secured four rebounds. Kallie Housley and Sariya Henry rounded out the scoring with three and two points. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 51% from the field, 27% from the three, and 13/15 from the charity stripe. 

The Lady Railsplitters secured 25 rebounds, scored 40 points in the paint, 16 fast break points, 19 points off of Cav turnovers, and 13 bench points. 

With the win, LMU improves to 14-2 overall and 9-2 in conference play, and UVA Wise drops to 10-7 overall and 7-4 in the SAC. 

The Lady Railsplitters will be on the road as they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday, January 24th at 2 pm.
