Emory, VA – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball came out firing from the arch as they defeat the Emory & Henry Wasps Wednesday evening 82-64.
Lincoln Memorial came out strong offensively, going 8/13 from beyond the arch, including
Kallie Housley shooting 3/4 from the three and
Lexi Patty shooting 2/2 from the arch. With Housley leading the first with nine points, the Lady Railsplitters go into second with the 27-19 lead.
The Lady Railsplitters was just as efficient in the second, outscoring the Wasps 23-19 and totaling 15 made threes in the first half. Housley also led this quarter with nine points, which helped LMU gain the 12-point lead going into halftime 50-38
Quarter three was a closer battle, with Lincoln Memorial adding 13 points and E&H scoring 16. With three different players scoring for LMU, highlighted by
Lexi Patty with four, the Lady Railsplitters go into the final quarter with the 63-54 lead.
The fourth quarter Lincoln Memorial solidified their lead, outscoring the Wasps 19-10, giving LMU the 82-64 win.
Housley led in scoring with 18 points, going 6/9 from the three, followed by
Alexa Smiddy, going 5/10 from the three and securing a team high six rebounds. Patty and
Kamil Collier also recorded double digits, with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Maleiya Hill finished out with eight points.
Asia Barr,
Rachel Early,
Sariya Henry, and
Ajalon Gillard all scored three points.
Keiara Anderson and
Aubree Laney rounded out the scoring with
two points each.
As a team Lincoln Memorial went 30/60 from the field, 20/41 from the three, and 50% from the charity stripe.
LMU secured 36 rebounds, scored 37 points from the bench, 16 points in the paint, 18 points off of E&H turnovers, seven fast break points, and three second chance points.
With the win Lincoln Memorial improves to 15-3 overall and 10-3 in conference play, while Emory & Henry drops to 4-15 overall and 2-11 in the SAC.
Their next game will be back in Tex Turner Arena as they host the Catawba Indians Saturday, January 31
st at 2 pm.
