Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball split the season series with the Catawba Indians as they defeated Catawba 71-38 Friday afternoon.
The first quarter Lincoln Memorial more than doubled Catawba's points, as LMU allowed the Catawba Indians to score six points compared to the Lady Railsplitters' 17. With the quarter being led by
Keiara Anderson with six points and the Catawba Indians committing five turnovers, Lincoln Memorial takes the 17-6 lead going into the second.
Lincoln Memorial also dominated in the second, with LMU scoring 20 points compared to Catawba's 11. With
Alexa Smiddy going 3/3 from beyond the arch and leading the quarter with nine points, the Lady Railsplitters have the 37-16 advantage going into halftime.
The Lady Railsplitters came out firing in the third, as they put together a 13-0 run in the first 2 and a half minutes. Once again, they outscored the Catawba Indians 21-8, highlighted by
Lexi Patty with six points. With the effort coming on both ends of the court, LMU leads 58-25 going into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was Catawba's highest scoring quarter with 13, and LMU's lowest with 13.
Kamil Collier and
Sariya Henry led the fourth with four, and LMIU got the victory over the Catawba Indians 71-38.
Smiddy led all scorers with 17 points and seven rebounds, followed by
Kamil Collier's 12
th double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Asia Barr also scored double digits with 11 points and five rebounds.
Lexi Patty added nine points and seven rebounds, and
Rachel Early registered eight points.
Keiara Anderson followed with six points,
Sariya Henry with four, and
Maleiya Hill rounded out with two points.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 35.8% from the field, 36.1% from the three, and 10/12 from the free throw line.
LMU secured 43 rebounds, scored 22 points in the paint, 21 second chance points, 18 points off of Catawba turnovers, 14 points from the bench, and 10 fast break points
.
With the win, the Lady Railsplitters improve to 16-3 overall and 11-3 in conference play, while Catawba falls to 7-12 overall and 5-9 in the SAC.
Their next game will be on the road as they make the trip to Greeneville, TN on Wednesday, February 4
th to face Tusculum at 5:30 pm.
