Women's Basketball Earns 12th Conference Win Of The Season With Victory Over Tusculum

Greeneville, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball earned their 12th conference win of the season as they defeat the Tusculum Pioneers Wednesday evening 70-47.

The Lady Railsplitters came out aggressively on the boards as they out rebounded the Pioneers 14-8. With Lexi Patty leading the quarter with nine points, LMU took the lead going into the second quarter 19-7.

The second quarter was much like the first, as LMU nearly doubled Tusculum's points 21-12, while going 4/5 from the free throw line. Patty also led in the second with nearly double digits with eight, and the Lady Railsplitters had the 40-19 advantage going into halftime.  

LMU performance stayed consistent in the third, outscoring the Pioneers 18-10 and securing more rebounds 16-10. Rachel Early was the team leader in the third with eight points, and Lincoln Memorial took the lead going into the fourth quarter 58-29.

The fourth quarter was LMU's lowest scoring quarter and TU's highest, with Lincoln Memorial scoring 12 and the Pioneers adding 18. Despite the late effort from Tusculum, the Lady Railsplitters still took the victory 70-47.

Kamil Collier led the team in scoring and in rebounding with 18 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Patty with 17 points and seven rebounds. Early and Asia Barr also recorded double digits on the night, with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Keiara Anderson contributed four points and six rebounds, and Maleiya Hill added three points team-high five assists. Alexa Smiddy and Ajalon Gillard rounded out the scoring with two points each.

As a team, LMU went 36.9% from the field, 21.1% from the three, and 14/19 from the charity stripe.

The Lady Railsplitters secured 50 rebounds, scored 28 points in the paint, 21 points off of TU turnovers, 19 points from the bench, 13 second chance points, and 11 fast break points.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 17-4 overall and 12-3 in conference play, while Tusculum drops to 2-19 overall and 2-13 in the SAC.

The team will be on the road once again on Saturday as they travel to Wingate, NC to face Wingate on Saturday, February 7th at 2 pm.
