Women's Basketball Defeats Wingate On The Road

Wingate, NC - Lincoln Memorial women's basketball defeats the Wingate Bulldogs Saturfay afternoon 64-52 to extend their win streak to four games.

 The two teams battled in the first quarter, as the Lady Railsplitters were outscored by the Bulldogs 16-13, despite out rebounding Wingate 9-6. Alexa Smiddy led the quarter with six points. 

Lincoln Memorial increased the pressure in the second limiting Wingate to only add nine points to their score but adding 19 to their own. Kamil Collier was the team-leader in the second with six points, and LMU went into halftime with the 32-25 advantage. 

The third quarter was similar to the second, as they outscored the Bulldogs 16-11. There were different leaders each quarter as Keiara Anderson led the third with six, as the Lady Railsplitters enter the final frame with the 48-36 lead.

The fourth quarter was the closest quarter in terms of scoring as each team scored 16 points, but Lincoln Memorial out rebounded Wingate 11-5. With Kamil Collier adding double-digits with 11, LMU took home the victory 64-52.

Collier recorded her 14th double double of the season as she led in scoring and on the board with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Smiddy and Anderson followed with nine points each, with Anderson dishing out a team-high five assists and Anderson grabbing eight rebounds. Lexi Patty and Maleiya Hill each registered right points, and Kallie Housley had three. Asia Barr and Sariya Henry rounded out the scoring with two points each. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 39.1% from the field, 27.8% from the three, and 4/5 from the free throw line. 

LMU scored 28 points in the paint, 22 points off of Wingate turnovers, 13 points from the bench, 11 second chance points, and seven fast break points. 

With the win. Lincoln Memorial improves to 18-3 overall and 13-3 in conference play, while Wingate drops to 14-8 overall and 9-7 in the SAC. 

The team's next game will be on Wednesday, February 11th at home as they face Carson-Newman in Tex Turner Arena at 5:30 pm.
