Harrogate, TN -- Lincoln Memorial University baseball head coach Justin Haywood has announced the hiring of Ty Fisher as the program's new pitching coach, bringing a proven competitor and emerging coach to the Railsplitter staff.
Fisher joins LMU after serving as a graduate assistant with Georgia Southern University baseball, where he worked closely with the pitching staff while completing his Master of Science in Sports Management. A native of Dalton, Georgia, Fisher brings a strong baseball pedigree, a passion for player development, and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed both on the mound and in the classroom.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as the pitching coach here at LMU," Fisher said. "Thank you to Coach Haywood and the rest of the athletic department for their trust and support. I am excited to get to work and help our student-athletes grow on and off the field."
Fisher was a standout pitcher during a five-year collegiate career split between Tennessee Tech and Georgia Southern. He was a weekend starter throughout his career, spending the majority of his time as a Friday night starter while also contributing in relief and other starting roles. He also competed during the summer with the State College Spikes in the MLB Draft League, gaining valuable experience against elite collegiate competition.
As a player, Fisher earned numerous accolades, including OVC All-Freshman Team honors in 2021, multiple selections to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll, and recognition on the 2022 NCAA Statesboro Regional All-Tournament Team. He was named Preseason All-Conference First Team in the Sun Belt prior to the 2023 season and earned Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on March 26, 2024.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Fisher served as the pitching coach for the Rochester Ridgemen in the New York Collegiate Baseball League during the summer of 2025, further developing his coaching résumé while leading and mentoring pitchers in a competitive summer league environment.
Georgia Southern head coach Rodney Hennon spoke highly of Fisher's impact and potential as he transitions to Lincoln Memorial.
"Ty Fisher will be a tremendous asset to the Railsplitter program," Hennon said. "Ty was a fierce competitor with great feel for the game and a knack for winning. These qualities have translated very well into his coaching career. Ty will make a positive impact on the growth and development of LMU players both on and off the field. I am very excited for Ty Fisher and the LMU program."
Coach Haywood echoed those sentiments, emphasizing Fisher's ability to connect with players and build a culture of excellence.
"I am excited and thankful that Ty chose to lead our staff," Haywood said. "He has a competitive spirit and determination that will bring out the best qualities of our pitching staff. He was a proven winner as a player and has carried that expectation into his coaching career. Ty has a unique ability to relate to his players to get the best out of them while having a clear and consistent plan for player development."
Fisher's background also includes a strong emphasis on academics, leadership, and service. He holds undergraduate degrees from Tennessee Tech University and Georgia Southern University and has been involved in community service initiatives such as Fostering Bulloch, Team Cure the Kids, and Feeding the Boro.
With a blend of high-level playing experience, a growing coaching résumé, and a commitment to holistic player development, Fisher is poised to make an immediate impact on the Lincoln Memorial pitching staff as the Railsplitters prepare for the upcoming season.
