Softball Sweeps West Virginia State in Home-Opening Doubleheader

HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial University softball opened the home schedule with a doubleheader sweep of West Virginia State on Wednesday at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex, earning a 10-2 win in the opener before completing the sweep with a 12-4 victory in game two.

In the first game, the Railsplitters took control early and never looked back, building a lead through the middle innings to secure the 10-2 result. LMU's offense produced consistent pressure throughout, and Brooke Strickland anchored the effort in the circle with a strong outing that included nine strikeouts over 6.0 innings.

Lincoln Memorial carried that momentum into game two, scoring six runs in the first inning and continuing to add on in every frame to pull away for the 12-4 win in five innings. The Railsplitters finished with 14 hits and were led by Hanna Bogoski, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Hannah McMeen produced a big day at the plate by going 2-for-2 with three runs scored, three RBI, and two walks. Reese Vivrette turned in a perfect 3-for-3 performance with two runs scored and an RBI, and Anna Kate Reichter added two hits and scored three times. In the circle, Jasmine Kaylor earned the win with 4.0 innings of work, and Alyssa Lupton tossed a scoreless inning in relief, allowing no hits and striking out one.

Lincoln Memorial returns to action this weekend by hosting the LMU Invitational at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex. The Railsplitters open the tournament on Saturday, Feb. 14 with Wayne State at 12:00 p.m. and Tiffin at 2:00 p.m., before continuing play Sunday, Feb. 15 with a rematch against Wayne State at 12:00 p.m. and a 4:00 p.m. matchup versus Bluefield State.
