Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial softball opened play at the LMU Invitational on Saturday at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex, falling 7-0 to Wayne State in the opener before dropping a 6-3 decision to Tiffin in game two.
Wayne State scored six times in the second inning and added a run in the seventh to take the opener. LMU finished with three hits, led by singles from Reese Vivrette, Anna Kate Reichter, and Hanna Bogoski. In the circle, Katie Fultz started the game, while Aslynn Lupton and Jasmine Kaylor combined to hold Wayne State scoreless over the final 5.2 innings of relief.
In the nightcap, Tiffin built an early lead with three runs in the second inning and extended the margin with a three-run home run in the sixth. Lincoln Memorial answered with a run in the second on a Gracie Palmer RBI single, then got within striking distance behind a Jordann Reagan solo home run in the fifth and an RBI double in the seventh. Reagan went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, and two RBI, while Palmer added a pair of hits. Brooke Strickland worked 5.2 innings with five strikeouts, and Kaylor tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in relief.
The Railsplitters return to action on Sunday, February 15, with a noon matchup against Wayne State and a 4 p.m. game against Bluefield State at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex
