Men's Lacrosse Falls To Lander On The Road

Greenwood, SC – Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse falls to the Lander Bearcats Saturday afternoon 11-19.

Lander got things started with scoring with 12:06 remaining, but Lincoln Memorial responded with two goals of their own, first by Beckett O'Shea with 9:52 remaining and O'Shea again with 8:06 remain, with Domenico Moscato getting the assist. The Bearcats evened up the match with 3:50 remaining. The back-and-forth scoring continued as LMU's Gavin Reid added a goal with 2:46 remaining, Lander registered a goal with 35 seconds remaining, and the Railsplitters finished the quarter with a goal by Jenson Jones  with five seconds left with Murdoch Bech earning the assist, giving Lincoln Memorial the 4-3 lead going into the second quarter.

LMU began the scoring again in the second as Reid assisted Winters with 14:15 remaining, followed by a Lander goal with 12:33 remaining. Lincoln Memorial's Jones scored a man up goal with 11:00 remaining, and the Bearcats responded with a goal with 10:10 remaining.  The Railsplitters added two more goals to the scoreboard with 8:50 remaining and 7:52 remaining, with Winters scoring off of Moscato and Reid scoring off of Luca Barsauskas, respectively. Lander recorded a goal with 5:23 remaining, and Lincoln Memorial registered their last goal of the half with Burdette adding a goal 4:49. Lander had the last say of the -quarter with 2:48 remaining, making the score 7-9 with Lander in the lead.

The third quarter was all lander, as they scored four goals before LMU would score their first of the quarter which was scored by Reid in a man up goal assisted by Jones with 7:33 remaining. The Bearcats would then finish out the quarter with three more goals before the end of the quarter, making the score at the end of the third 10-14 with the Bearcats having the advantage.

The final frame was much like the third, with Lander scoring most of the goals. The Bearcats added two more goals to the scoreboard before Reid added LMU's last goal of the game with 10:03 remaining, with O'Shea earning the assist. Lander solidified their lead by adding three more goals before the end of the match, giving Lander the 11-19 victory.

Reid led the team in points with six points for four goals and two assists, followed by  O'Shea and Jones with three points each for two goals and one assist each. Moscato and Winters each finished with two points, as Moscato recorded two assists and Winters scored two goals. Barsauskas and Bech each got one assist, and Burdette finished with one goal.

O'Shea led the team in ground balls with seven, and Noah Laurel and Mark Alarcon both led in caused turnovers with two each. Jayden Herman recorded 12 saves.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded 44 shots, with 23 being on goal, 35 ground balls, 14 won face offs, and 2/4 extra man opportunities.

With the loss, LMU drops to 1-1 overall and Lander improves to 2-0.

The team will return home on Saturday, February 21, 2026 as they face Mount Olive at 12 pm.
