Women's Basketball Earns Victory Over The Trojans

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball remains undefeated at home as they take the victory over Anderson 58-42.

The first quarter was all Lincoln Memorial, as the Lady Railsplitters limited Anderson to only score 6 points compared to LMU's 19, which includes an 11-point run in the middle. With Lexi Patty leading the quarter with eight, Lincoln Memorial went into the next quarter with the 19-6 lead.

In the second, Anderson doubles their scoring with 18, outscoring LMU by six as they added 12. Kallie Housley led the second with five points, and the Lady Railsplitters had the 31-24 advantage going into halftime.

The third quarter was LMU's lowest scoring quarter of the game, as they only scored eight compared to the Trojans' 14, leaving the score 39-38 going into the final frame.

Lincoln Memorial erupted on both sides of the court in the fourth, as they scored a game-high 19 points and only allowed Anderson to score four points. Alexa Smiddy led the fourth as she went 3/5 from beyond the arch, which gave Lincoln Memorial the 58-42 victory over the Trojans.

Smiddy led the team in scoring with 18 points and recorded a team-high six assists. Collier followed with seven points and a team-high 12 assists for her 16th double-double of the season. Lexi Patty followed with eight points and nine rebounds. Keiara Anderson, Asia Barr, and Kallie Housley all recorded five points each, with Asia Barr also adding six rebounds.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 34.4% from the field, 30% from the three, and 4/4 from beyond the arch.

Lincoln Memorial scored 18 points in the paint, 10 fast break points, 10 points off of Anderson turnovers, seven second chance points, and five points from the bench.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 20-3 overall and 15-3 in the SAC, and the Trojans drop to 11-13 overall and 7-11 in conference play. The last time that the team got 20 wins was in the 2016-2017 season. 

The team will go back on the road as they travel to Mars Hill on Wednesday, February 18th at 5:30 pm.
