Harrogate, TN – After a record-setting regular season, the Lincoln Memorial University Women's Wrestling team will compete in the NCAA Region III Championship this weekend, hosted by Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
The Railsplitters finished the regular season with a program-best 4-6 record, going 2-2 against Conference Carolinas opponents while competing in five individual tournaments throughout the season.
Lincoln Memorial's record-setting season was headlined by performances from Shonticia Taft, who was twice named Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week, and Calista Gibson, who netted the award once.
The freshman class for the Splitters also proved pivotal in their season, with Shandrea Morgan highlighting the Railsplitters youthful surge by taking home the conferences freshman of the month award for January.
Lincoln Memorial will be joined by 18 other schools in the regional championship. The top three invidividuals from each weight class will qualify for the NCAA Women's Wresting Championship in March in Coralville, Iowa.
