Softball Sweeps Lee in Midweek Doubleheader

HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial softball put together an outstanding day at Dorothy Neely Softball Complex on Wednesday, sweeping Lee in a pair of high-energy wins, 8-2 in the opener and 9-8 in game two.

LMU came out flying in the first game, breaking it open with a five-run first inning and never letting go of the momentum. The Railsplitters finished with 13 hits in the win, led by Hanna Bogoski, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Kristin Griffin crossed the plate three times and added a pair of hits. Cassidy Hack chipped in a strong day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. In the circle, Brooke Strickland delivered a steady performance over 6.0 innings, allowing just two runs on two hits while striking out four to earn the win.

The second game turned into a classic, with LMU answering every challenge and finishing the sweep with a 9-8 victory. Lee built a lead through the early innings, but the Railsplitters stayed locked in and delivered the decisive punch with a four-run fifth inning to move back in front. LMU collected 14 hits in the nightcap, with Alyssa Maples going 2-for-4 and driving in two, and Reese Vivrette adding two RBI. Hack was a spark plug all game long, scoring four runs and reaching base consistently, while Nicole Couvertiere added a 2-for-4 effort. In relief, Katie Fultz slammed the door down the stretch, working 3.0 innings and allowing just one run to secure the win and complete the doubleheader sweep.
