Greenwood, S.C. - The Lincoln Memorial Men's Wrestling team took to the mats for the final time in the 2025-26 season, securing six team points and an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Region II Championships on Saturday, hosted by Lander University.
Six wrestlers competed for Lincoln Memorial in the championship meet, as Tyler Costantino wrestled in the 125-pound class, Spencer Reep competed in the 133, Porter Finstad ended his collegiate career in the 141 division, Jose Gutierrez competed in the 149 pound weight class, Julian Smith wrestled out of the 157 pound division, and James Thaxton competed in the 165 class.
Reep would earn the Splitters first win of the day, taking a 8-6 decision win in the consolation bracket over Alex McMiller of Emmanuel. Reep started early with a takedown in the first period before falling behind in the second, selecting to try an escape point to open the third period. Reep converted a reversal before securing a takedown to finish off the 8-6 win.
Porter Finstad would start his final collegiate meet with a win in the opening round against Brayden Gibson of Shorter. Finstad jumped out with a takedown to secure a quick 3-0 lead in the first period, and after two reversals from his opponent in the next two rounds, Finstad would finish off Gibson with one final takedown, securing a 6-4 decision win for the Railsplitter senior.
Gutierrez would net the Splitters team points with a forfeit win in the first consolation round in the 149-pound matchup.
LMU's final win would come out of the 165-pound division, as Thaxton secured a decision win over Nate Stratton of Emmanuel. After a quiet first round, Thaxton got in position for a takedown, and turned that into a four-point nearfall to eventually secure the 4-0 decision win.
