Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team falls to the #1 Tampa Spartans Friday evening 1-25
The first quarter UTampa took the lead quick as they scored 11 goals in the opening frame, with four of those goals tallying assists. With that being said,
Jovie Favati recorded three saves.Â
Lincoln Memorial upped their defense in the second, as they limited Tampa to only add five more goals to the scoreboard, with
Josie Tinnerello scoring her first goal of the season with 13:45 remaining, unassisted, making the score 1-16 at the end of the second. Â
Emily Mirabile also registered her first three saves as a Railsplitter, with the team also recording a 100% clear success rate in the second.Â
The Spartans scored the least amount of goals in the third with only four goals. The Railsplitters applied deep pressure as UT turned the ball over six times. The score at the end of the third was 1-20.Â
LMU held Tampa to five goals in the final frame, making the final score 1-25 with the University of Tampa taking the win.
Tinnerello scored the lone goal for the Railsplitters for her first goal of the season, and she also led in shots and shots on goal with four anf two, respectively.
Adleigh Huckstep led the team in ground balls with three, followed by
Ryan Smith, Favati, and
Mary Kostus with two each. Smith and Huckstep led the pack with two caused turnovers each, and
Jaiden Jaynes and Smith were the team-leaders in draw controls with one each. Goalkeepers Favati and Mirabile played equal time in goal, with Favati finishing the match with three saves and Mirabile with five.Â
With the loss, the Railsplitters fall to 0-1 overall on the season and Tampa improves to 1-0 overall.
The team will have a few days to rest before they play their next game at home on Wednesday, February 11th as they face North Greenville at 5 pm.Â
