JOHNSON CITY, TN - Lincoln Memorial University softball closed the Big Region Tournament on Monday with a pair of tight, low-scoring contests, falling 1-0 to Glenville State before dropping a 1-0 decision in eight innings to Concord at Winged Deer Park.
In the opener against Glenville State, the game's only run came in the third inning as the Pioneers manufactured the deciding score to take a 1-0 lead. LMU threatened early, loading the bases in the bottom of the first after Reese Vivrette singled and both Anna Kate Reichter and Hannah McMeen drew walks, but the Railsplitters were unable to push a run across. Lincoln Memorial finished with five hits in the contest, led by McMeen who went 2-for-2, while Vivrette, Kristin Griffin and Hanna Bogoski each added a hit. Brooke Strickland turned in another strong performance in the circle, pitching all seven innings and allowing one run on six hits.
The Railsplitters then took Concord into extra innings in the finale, but a walk-off play in the bottom of the eighth decided the 1-0 result. LMU collected four hits, with Reichter doubling down the left-field line and adding a single in a 1-for-4 effort, while McMeen, Alyssa Williams and Gracie Palmer each recorded a hit. Katie Fultz delivered a standout outing, working 7.1 innings and striking out seven while allowing just one hit, with the lone run scoring unearned in the eighth.
Lincoln Memorial returns home for its season opener doubleheader on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex, hosting West Virginia State for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch followed by game two at 5:00 p.m.
