Women's Basketball Advances To NCAA Regional Semifinals With Victory Over The Bobcats

Harrogate, TN - Lincoln Memorial women's basketball's post season run continues as they defeat the #8 seed Lees-McRae Bobcats Friday evening 68-53. 

The Lady Railsplitters came out strong offensively as they outscored Lees-McRae 24-6 while holding the Bobcats to a 12.5% field percentage. Three LMU players led the team with five points each: Asia Barr, Kamil Collier, and Kallie Housley

Lees-McRae started to pull through on the scoreboard, as the second quarter was a closer battle with the Bobcats scoring 17 points and Lincoln Memorial adding 20. Rachel Early led this quarter as she went perfect 2/2 from beyond the arch. 

The last two quarters were LMU's lowest scoring quarters, with Lincoln Memorial adding 12 and Lees-McRae posting 15. The third was the Bobcats highest field percentage with 41.7%. Collier led the team with six points. 

The fourth was exactly like the third, with each team scoring the same as the third with the Lady Railsplitters registering 12 and Lees-McRae posting 15. Despite being outscored in the second half, Lincoln Memorial took the victory 68-52. 

Collier led the team in scoring with 17 points and nine rebounds. Housley followed with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Early scored nine points as she went 3/3 from the three. Asia Barr contributed eight points, and Lexi Patty registered six points and tied to lead the team in rebounds with nine. Alexa Smiddy recorded five points and five assists, while Keiara Anderson and Ajalon Gillard both added three points each. Maleiya Hill and Sariya Henry rounded out the scoring with two and one points, respectively. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 35.2% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arch, and 7/9 from the charity stripe. 

LMU secured 41 rebounds, scored 29 points from the bench, 28 points in the paint, 16 points off of Bobcat turnovers, 15 fast break points, and nine second chance points. 

With the win, the Lady Railsplitters improve to 26-4 overall and advance to the NCAA Southeast Regional Semifinals, and Less-McRae finishes their season with a 23-8 overall record. 

The team will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Semifinals, facing the winner of #4 seed Columbus State and #5 Carson-Newman tomorrow, March 14th at 7:30 pm.
