Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse defeats the Emory & Henry Wasps 19-5 for their second conference win of the season.
The Wasps began the scoring in the first as they recorded a pair of goals with 11:49 remaining and 9:15 remaining, but LMU evened up the match as
Gavin Reid recorded a brace, with the first goal being at 7:58 with
Jacob Scholz earning the assist, and the second at 6:47 with
Evan Weis adding the assist. E&H took back the lead with 6:23 remaining.
The Railsplitters added two more goals on the scoreboard to get their first lead of the match:

Jenson Jones with 0:57 left to take the 4-3 lead going into the second.
Emory & Henry only scored one goal in the second quarter with 12:40, and the remainder of the frame was all Railsplitters as they went on a 6-goal scoring run. Jones scored the first goal, assisted by
Koen Burdette, with 9:20 remaining, followed by
Alex Wegrzyn with 8:03 remaining and Reid getting the assist. Then Reid scored a goal of his own unassisted with 5:00 remaining, and Psaltis added another unassisted goal with 3:22 remaining. The last two goals of the quarter were scored by
Lucas Barsauskas with 1:50 remaining (assisted by Burdette) and Reid with 1:16 remaining to give LMU the 10-4 advantage going into halftime.
The third quarter was a back-and-forth fight, as the Wasps scored first with 14:33 remaining, then Lincoln Memorial's Jones added a goal with 12:15 remaining, assisted by Wegrzyn. The pattern continued with E&H recording a goal with 9:29 remaining, followed by Reid tallying a goal with 7:55 remaining, with Psaltis earning the assist. Emory & Henry then went on a three-goal scoring streak with 6:15 remaining, 4:47 remaining, and 2:18 remaining to make the score 12-9 going into the final frame with LMU in the lead.
It was all Lincoln Memorial in the fourth, starting out with Moscato scoring off of O'Shea with 6:25 remaining, followed by Jones adding a goal off of Cooper Grandos with 3:03 remaining. Barsauskas recorded the last goal of the match with 0:12 remaining to give the Railsplitters the 15-9 win.
Reid led the team in points with six for five goals and one assist, followed by Jones with four points for four goals. Psaltis recorded three points for one goal and two points, and O'Shea (2 assists), Moscato (2 goals), Wegrzyn (1 goal, 1 assist), Barsauskas (2 goals), and Burdette (2 assists) each finished with two points. Weid, Granados, and Scholz each recorded one assist.
Moscato was the team-leader in shots with eight and shots on goal with seven.
Niko Buchholz led in ground balls with nine and
Connor Blondin was the caused turnover leader with three. Goalkeeper
Connor Fitzgibbon took the win on the day with eight saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial took 42 shots, with 34 being on goal, recorded 11 saves, 26 successful clears, 42 ground balls, and 17 won face offs.
With the win, the Railsplitters improve to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play and Emory & Henry fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the SAC.
The next game will on the road as they travel to Hickory, NC to face Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, March 21
st at 4 pm.
