Women's Lacrosse Gets Victory Over Emory & Henry

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse defeats the Emory & Henry Wasps 14-4 for their second conference win of the season.

The Railsplitters got things started in the first as Josie Tinnerello added their first goal with 13:28 remaining, with E&H quickly responding with 12:26 remaining to tie up the match. Tinnerello recorded a brace with 7:44 remaining, assisted by Abby Durkin, and Emma Limestahl added her first goal with 7:03 remaining, with Durkin also getting that assist.  The Wasps tallied their last goal of the quarter with 3:53 remaining. Lincoln Memorial ended the quarter with Tinnerello scoring another goal with 2:49 remaining to make the score 4-2 going into the second with LMU in the lead.

The second was mostly Lincoln Memorial, with Ryan Smith scoring from the start with 13:55 remaining, with Izzy Hobday recording the assist. Smith registered a brace with 12:47 remaining, and Tinnerello scored just ten seconds later with 12:37 remaining, with Smith earning the assist. Jessie McKilligan added the last goal of quarter two for LMU, assisted by Jaiden Jaynes, and E&H scored with 0:17 left in the quarter to make the score 8-3 going into halftime with Lincoln Memorial having the advantage.

The third quarter was low scoring, with each team only scoring one goal. Emory & Henry opened the third with a goal with 9:04 remaining, and LMU's Durkin scored a goal with 7:47 remaining, as Briana Martinez earned the assist, bringing the score to 9-4 going into the final frame.

The fourth quarter was all LMU, starting with Martinez scoring with 14:23 and 13:26 remaining, with Durkin tallying both assists. Jaynes tallied the only unassisted goal of the fourth, and McKilligan added another goal with 6:30 remaining, assisted by Martinez. Kailey Hardin scored the last goal for the Railsplitters off of Jaynes' assist to make the final score 14-4 with the Railsplitters getting the victory.

Durkin led in points on the night with five points for one goal and four assists. Martinez and Tinnerello both followed with four points as Martinez recorded two goals and two assists and Tinnerello scored four goals. Jaynes (1 goal, 2 assists) and Smith (2 goals, 1 assist) both finished with three points, and McKilligan scored two goals for two points. Hobday recorded one assist, and Hardin and Limestahl each got one goal.

Tinnerello was the team-leader in shots with six, and Martinez, Smith, and Brooklyn Walls all led in ground balls with four. Sage Leax led in caused turnovers with three, and Emily Mirabile got the win with a 90% save percentage.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial took 27 shots, with 18 on goal, recorded 12 saves, 15 successful clears, 25 ground balls, and 12 draw controls.

With the win, LMU improves to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play and Emory & Henry drops to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

The team's next match will be on the road as they travel to Hickory, NC to face Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, March 21st at 1 pm.
