ANDERSON, SC – Lincoln Memorial softball fell in a South Atlantic Conference road doubleheader at Anderson University (S.C.) on Tuesday, dropping a 5-3 decision in game one before the Trojans completed the sweep with a 6-0 result in game two.
In the opener, LMU stayed within striking distance throughout and got a big swing from Hannah McMeen, who finished 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Jordann Reagan added a pair of hits, while Kristin Griffin worked two walks as the Railsplitters battled back into the game. In the circle, Brooke Strickland and Katie Fultz combined to hold Anderson scoreless over the final 2.1 innings to keep the game tight late, but the Trojans' early offense proved to be the difference as Anderson held on for the 5-3 win.
Game two belonged to Anderson's Carson Hobbs, who threw a complete-game shutout as the Trojans limited LMU to five hits. Reese Vivrette led the Railsplitters with a 2-for-4 afternoon, and Alyssa Maples doubled as LMU looked to generate late momentum. Anderson produced its scoring in bunches and paired timely hits with pressure on the bases to pull away for the 6-0 final.
Lincoln Memorial returns home this weekend to continue SAC play with a doubleheader against Newberry College on Saturday, March 28 at Dorothy Neely Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., followed by game two at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available on the LMU softball schedule page.
