Women’s Golf Takes SAC Runner-Up, Falls to No. 1 Wingate in Title Match

GREENVILLE, SC – The No. 24 Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team delivered a historic postseason run at the 2026 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship at The Preserve at Verdae, finishing as the SAC runner-up and recording the program's best conference finish since 2012.

After securing a spot in medal match play, the Railsplitters knocked off No. 3 Anderson (S.C.) in the semifinals, 3–2, in a match that came down to the final holes. Millie Russell earned a 1-up win with a birdie on the final hole, and Joy Aspetaki clinched the deciding point with a 1-up victory on the last hole to send LMU to the SAC Championship match. Dilyara Bulambayeva and Ruby McLellan each battled to halves, while Reese Rexroat dropped her match.

In the championship match against No. 1 Wingate, LMU closed the tournament as the conference runner-up after a hard-fought final round of singles. The Railsplitters picked up a point from Rexroat, while Bulambayeva halved her match, but Wingate claimed the remaining matches to secure the title.

LMU also placed three golfers on the SAC All-Tournament Team following stroke play: Dilyara Bulambayeva, Joy Aspetaki, and Millie Russell.

With its deepest SAC Championship run in more than a decade now complete, Lincoln Memorial will await the NCAA selection process with hopes of earning a spot in the NCAA Division II South Regional (May 4–6) in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
