Athletic programs shine in the classroom

Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University athletic department continues to set a remarkably high standard in the classroom, celebrating an outstanding academic term marked by a collective department grade point average of 3.49. This exceptional performance across all sports is highlighted by a vast number of student-athletes earning individual academic distinctions, including 79 individuals named Splitter Scholars and another 227 recognized as A.B.E. Scholars. A Splitter Scholar is a student-athlete that earned a 3.5-3.74 term GPA and an A.B.E. (Academics Before Everything) Scholar is a student-athlete that earned a 3.75-4.0 term GPA. The impressive department-wide results reflect a deep institutional commitment to balancing competitive athletic drives with rigorous academic success.

An incredible eleven different programs achieved a grade point average over 3.5 during this period, showcasing widespread academic dedication. The softball program secured the highest mark in the entire department with a phenomenal 3.86 grade point average, fueled by five Splitter Scholars and 15 A.B.E Scholars. Closely following is women's tennis, which achieved a stellar 3.81 grade point average with 15 A.B.E Scholars contributing to the roster. The women's cross country team also landed among the elite tier, earning a 3.80 grade point average behind the strength of one Splitter Scholar and nine A.B.E Scholars. Right behind them, the women's golf team put together an impressive 3.79 grade point average, supported by four Splitter Scholars and eight A.B.E Scholars.

The academic dominance continued across multiple women's sports, with women's track and field recording a standout 3.75 grade point average alongside one Splitter Scholar and 18 A.B.E Scholars. Women's volleyball posted a superb 3.72 grade point average with one Splitter Scholar and nine A.B.E Scholars, while both women's basketball and women's lacrosse earned identical 3.66 grade point averages. Women's basketball reached its mark with three Splitter Scholars and 10 A.B.E Scholars, and women's lacrosse achieved its success with four Splitter Scholars and 18 A.B.E Scholars. Additionally, women's soccer earned a strong 3.61 grade point average with six Splitter Scholars and 16 A.B.E Scholars, and women's field hockey cleared the milestone with a 3.56 grade point average, supported by two Splitter Scholars and 11 A.B.E Scholars.

On the men's side, three programs also shattered the 3.5 threshold with excellent classroom performances. Men's tennis led the male sports with a 3.68 grade point average, driven by three Splitter Scholars and nine A.B.E Scholars. Men's track and field followed closely with a 3.60 grade point average, a total backed by eight Splitter Scholars and 10 A.B.E Scholars. Rounding out this elite academic group is the men's volleyball program, which earned a 3.51 grade point average with four Splitter Scholars and seven A.B.E Scholars.
