Top 20 moments of 2015 - No. 5: Lindsay Davis Wins SAC Championship

HARROGATE, Tenn. -- As the end of the year approaches, the Lincoln Memorial University athletics department is counting down the top 20 moments of 2015. Kicking off the top five is women's golf alum Lindsay Davis' South Atlantic Conference Championship performance.

Despite trailing the leader by five strokes entering the final round of the 2015 SAC Championship at Sevierville Golf Club on April 14, Davis posted a career-low, two-over par 74 to become the first SAC Championship individual medalist in the history of the LMU women's golf program. The Tazewell, Tenn. native was not only the first SAC tournament medalist in program history, but also just the fourth Lady Railsplitter to win a tournament of any kind.

Davis finished with a three-round, 13-over par total of 229 to beat out Carson-Newman's Danielle Baiunco by a single stroke and Newberry's Karly Mims by three shots.

Thanks to Davis, the Lady Railsplitters finished fourth in the SAC Championship.

Davis, who now serves as the graduate assistant coach for the women's golf program, was later recognized as LMU's 2014-15 Female Athlete of the Year at the annual Athletics Banquet.

A four-year letterwinner for the Lady Railsplitters, Davis completed her career in the Blue and Gray ranked second in program history with an 81.35 stroke average. She compiled a 78.0 stroke average over the course of her senior season, which is the second lowest in the single-season history of the LMU women's golf program.

The top 20 moments countdown continues on Monday with moment No. 4.
