ETOWAH, N.C. -- The Railsplitters' B-Team posted rounds of 303 and 294 at the Etowah Intercollegiate, completing the event in third place with a 21-over par total of 597. The Etowah Intercollegiate - co-hosted by Lincoln Memorial - wrapped up Tuesday at Etowah Valley Golf Course, a 6,892 yard, par 72 located in Etowah, N.C.
The Railsplitters finished behind North Greenville and Brevard, but topped Belmont Abbey, Mars Hill, Milligan, Anderson, Brevard's B-Team and Cape Fear. The North Greenville Crusaders won the event with 290+291=581 (+5), while runner-up Brevard posted 299+290=589 (+13).
Seniors
Luke Butler (Worcester, England) and
Matthew Chambers (Jacksboro, Tenn.) led the Railsplitters as that duo finished in a tie for fifth place with three-over par 147s. Butler produced rounds of 74 and 73 which were replicated in inverse order by Chambers. Reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year
Rand Wasson (Norris, Tenn.) carded a five over 77 and an even par 72 to capture a share of 12th with a two-day total of 149.
Senior
Tre Mullins (Big Stone Gap, Va.) placed 21st with rounds of 79 and 75, while Richard Hoskins (Harrogate, Tenn.) fired a two-day total of 156 to earn a share of 26th. Competing as an individual, senior
Robert Genno (Washago, Ontario) tied for 37th by turning with an 82 and an 80.
The B-Team returns to the course on October 20 in the opening round of the Walters State Fall Invitational, hosted at The Country Club in Morristown, Tenn.
