HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lady Railsplitters impressed in the 2015 women's tennis season opener on Saturday afternoon, routing the University of the Cumberlands Patriots 7-2 at the LMU Tennis Complex. Lincoln Memorial jumps out to a 1-0 start, while Cumberlands falls to 0-1.

Lincoln Memorial seized the momentum early by taking two out of three from the Patriots in doubles action. Junior Elena Vasilyeva (Yaroslavl, Russia) and Gemma Goodland (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) handled Isabella Dale and Erin Hart 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. The sophomore duo of Roksolana Prudyvus (Lviv, Ukraine) and Priscilla Bulandres (Markham, Canada) then combined for LMU's second doubles win in the third flight as the pair did not lose a game in an 8-0 thumping.  

The Lady Railsplitters continued to dominate in singles action, winning five of those six matches. Despite a rare loss by Vasilyeva at No. 1 singles, Lincoln Memorial rolled off five straight wins in the two through six flights as Goodland, Bulandres, Giovanna Lombardi (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Prudyvus, and Angelica Solana (Bogota, Colombia) all rolled in straight sets.  

The Patriots picked up their only two points of the match at No. 2 doubles and No. 1 singles. Chanel Williams and Sydni Grimes bested Lombardi and Solano 8-4, while Dale stunned Vasilyeva in the top singles flight despite dropping the opening set 6-0. Dale captured the next two sets 7-5, 10-7 to knock off the preseason All-SAC first team selection.

The Lady Railsplitters return to action on February 8, hosting Young Harris in nonconference action at the LMU Tennis Complex. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
