Jefferson City, TN – In their second appearance of the fall season, the Lincoln Memorial University Women's Tennis team took part in the Carson-Newman Woman's Hidden Duals Thursday afternoon, facing the Eagles in singles play and Maryville College in doubles competition.
In singles play, Lincoln Memorial took home three wins against Carson-Newman. Natalia Reimer started the day with a two-set sweep, opening with a 6-1 first set before closing out a win in a 7-5 second set. Adriana Pellizzari followed suit for LMU, earning 6-4 and 6-3 wins in the Splitters second singles win.
Natalia Garcia picked up the final singles win of the day for the Splitters, battling in the first set with Carson-Newman's Aguiar before pulling away with a 7-5 victory. Garcia would take care of business in the second set, running away with a 6-2 win.
The Railsplitters would dominate doubles play, sweeping their four matchups against Maryville while allowing a combined two points. Marta Melnichenok and Lucie Palud took a 6-1 win in the first doubles match for their second doubles win of the fall.
Reimer and Mia Rodriguez would slot into the second doubles group, earning the Splitters second 6-1 doubles win against the Scots. Pellizzari and Garcia followed suit with a 6-0 sweep from the third doubles match.
Alexandra Ortiz and Mar Garcia Bucosa rounded out the Splitters day, taking home a 6-0 sweep in the fourth doubles match against the Scots to finish a 4-0 doubles sweep of Maryville to close out the day.
LMU is back on the court on Saturday, returning home to face King University in a duals match.
