Women's tennis' Mar Garcia Bucosa named First Century Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial senior women's tennis player Mar Garcia Bucosa has been named the First Century Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week. A native of Granollers, Spain, Garcia Bucosa is pursuing a degree in business administration management, where she maintains an impressive 3.989 GPA. Her commitment to the classroom is highlighted by being named an A.B.E. Scholar for two consecutive years, earning a spot on the Dean's list for six consecutive semesters at Lincoln Memorial, and receiving honors on the South Atlantic Conference commissioner's honor roll as well as the 2025 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. Beyond her own studies, she serves as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for women's tennis and has been inducted into both the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society for student-athletes and the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society in Business. Outside of her academic and athletic commitments, she can frequently be found supporting fellow Railsplitters at soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, and baseball games, or working behind the camera at various athletics events to capture her peers succeeding in their respective sports.

On the tennis court, Garcia Bucosa has been a steadfast competitor for the Railsplitters across her collegiate career. During her junior season in 2025 through 2026, she competed in 12 singles matches, posting a 6-3 record with three unfinished results primarily from the sixth singles position, which included helping Lincoln Memorial pick up a set in a tight battle against number six Florida Southern on April 2, 2026, alongside securing six doubles victories mostly from the second position paired with Alexandra Ortiz. In her 2024 through 2025 sophomore campaign, she made 10 singles appearances with five victories, including two against conference opponents, while compiling a strong 10-3 record across 13 doubles matches highlighted by a win over competition from Southeast Missouri State and three conference doubles victories. During her freshman season in 2023 through 2024, she saw action in 22 singles matches and tallied 10 wins with six coming against conference foes, while also matching that production with 10 victories across 22 doubles appearances primarily out of the number one and two positions.
