OLD HICKORY, Tenn. -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team seemingly did enough to win, but Tennessee Wesleyan fired a final round, 13-under par 275 to overcome an 11-stroke deficit and win the Trevecca Spring Invitational on Tuesday at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.

The Railsplitters entered the final round with a one-stroke lead over Cumberland and an 11-shot cushion over two-time defending Trevecca Spring Invitational titlist Tennessee Wesleyan. Lincoln Memorial posted the second-lowest round of the day with a five-over par 293, but it was not enough to beat out the red-hot Bulldogs.

The Railsplitters finished with 285=293=578 (+2), falling seven strokes back of Tennessee Wesleyan, who carded 296+275=571 (-5) to win its third straight Trevecca Spring Invitational. Cumberland was six shots back of the Railsplitters with a two-round total of 584 (+8), while Trevecca Nazarene (596) and Lenoir-Rhyne (601) lagged well behind the top three in the final standings.

Kurtis Campbell (Saint Lazare, Quebec, Canada) and
Braden Galyon (Powell, Tenn.) both finished inside the top five to lead the Railsplitters. Campbell followed up a two-over par 73 with a two-under par 70, earning a fourth-place finish with a one-under par total of 143. Galyon collected sole possession of fifth place with back-to-back even-par rounds of 72. Campbell led the entire field in pars with 30.

The remainder of the Railsplitters' starting rotation finished in a tie for 17th with three-over par totals of 147.
George Duncan (Dumbartonshire, Scotland) carded 70+77,
Rand Wasson (Norris, Tenn.) recorded those exact numbers, and
Connor Froning (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted 73+74.

Freshman
Scott MacGregor (Wakefield, England) was stellar while competing in the individual competition, shooting 76+70=146 (+2) to finish with a share of eighth place. Matt Chambers (Jacksboro, Tenn.) and
Taylor Dreps (Nashville, Tenn.) also competed as individuals, finishing tied for 36th and alone in 43rd, respectively.

Tennessee Wesleyan's Travis Rodgers captured the Trevecca Spring Invitational title with rounds of 72 and 67, beating out his teammate Evan Ball and Cumberland's Zach Polston by two strokes.

The Railsplitters head to Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday for the annual Tusculum/LMU Match Play before wrapping up the regular season at the Tennessee River Rumble on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
