Galyon's All-Tournament performance leads Railsplitters to third-place finish at Tusculum Invitational

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Braden Galyon (Powell, Tenn.) earned All-Tournament Team laurels to lead the Railsplitters to a third-place finish at the Tusculum Invitational on Sunday at Link Hill Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.

Lincoln Memorial entered this weekend's Tusculum Invitational having won the last five tournament hosted at Link Hill Country Club, but a three-week layoff plagued by snow and icy conditions limited the Railsplitters' opportunities to practice to a few sessions at the indoor range.

The rust showed through a little bit, too, as the Railsplitters posted 290+285=575 (+7) to fall six strokes back of host Tusculum, who posted an eight-under par 276 on Sunday to eclipse Young Harris for the tournament crown. The Pioneers finished with 293+276=569 (+1), while the Mountain Lions finished runners-up with 281+292=573 (+5). Tiffin (577) and Mars Hill (580) rounded out the top five of the final Tusculum Invitational standings.

LMU's B-Team cut 12 strokes off of Saturday's total, completing the event with 311+299=610 (+42) to place 13th in the 18-team field.

Galyon capped his final Tusculum Invitational in a three-way logjam for third place, earning one of five spots on the All-Tournament Team. The Powell, Tenn. native posted a one-over par 72 on Saturday and a two-under par 69 on Sunday. He fell just three shots back of Young Harris's Eli Crumley, who brought home individual medalist distinctions with a four-under par 138.

Galyon was the only LMU player to finish inside the top 20, as Rand Wasson (Norris, Tenn.), Kurtis Campbell (Saint Lazare, Quebec) and George Duncan (Dumbartonshire, Scotland) held down the next three spots for the Railsplitters. Wasson tied for 18th with a five-over total of 147 (76+71), while Campbell and Duncan were one shot back of that in a tie for 25th place.

Junior Connor Froning (Knoxville, Tenn.) struggled in Sunday's round, following up a one-under par 70 with an eight-over par 79. He tied for 28th place with a total of 149.

Tre Mullins (Big Stone Gap, Va.) and Robert Genno (Washago, Ontario) paced the LMU B-Team with 34th and 51st place finishes, respectively. Mullins posted back-to-back 75s for an eight-over par total of 150, while Genno fell three strokes back of that with 76+77.

Taylor Dreps (Nashville, Tenn.) was next in line for the B-Team, carding a 79 and a 76 for a 13-over par total of 155. Dreps tied for 59th place.

The Railsplitters jump right back on the course next Monday (March 16), traveling to Charlotte, N.C. and Monroe Country Club for the Ralph Hargett Memorial.
