Notes on the Lady Railsplitters:
- Lincoln Memorial fell 1-0 to Mars Hill on a 108th-minute goal, which snapped a three-game unbeaten streak. Since starting 1-7, the Lady Railsplitters are 2-1-1 in their last four games with that only loss coming in double overtime but are still 10th in the 12-team SAC.
- For the first time in program history, the Lady Railsplitters have played three consecutive matches that have required double overtime. The only other time Lincoln Memorial played three straight matches that went at least one overtime was September 6-13, 2009. The team has never played four straight overtime games.
- Wednesday's double-overtime defeat was Lincoln Memorial's first regular season loss in overtime since October 16, 2013 against USC Aiken—a span of 10 matches. However, they did lose a 2014 SAC Tournament match to Catawba on penalty kicks during the streak.
- Lincoln Memorial will celebrate Senior Day by honoring its three seniors –
Kathryn Lundy (Pinckney, Mich.),
Michelle Hunter (Tecumseh, Ontario) and
Marissa Kiernan (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) – during a pre-match ceremony.
-
Caroline Souza (São Paulo, Brazil) leads the team with three goals.
Melissa Carpenter (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Hanna Ratliff (Somerset, Ky.) are tied for second with two.
-
Alyssa Berry (St. Joseph, Mich.),
Palisa Chipendo (Brighton, England) and
Kaitlyn Tisch (Tacoma, Wash.) have accounted for one goal apiece.
Gabby Garcia (Aurora, Colo.) is the only other player to total a point this season; she assisted on Carpenter's game-winning goal against Coker on October 15.
- Possession has been a problem for the Lady Railsplitters all season, as they have been outshot in all but two games this season. On average, opponents have outshot LMU 18.8 (9.2 SOG) to 12.8 (5.3 SOG).
- The Lady Railsplitters have struggled to find consistent offensive production this season, as they have only scored 10 goals in 12 games on 154 shots. They place ninth in SAC with 12.8 shots per game and 10th at .83 goals per game. Coker is last in both categories.
- The Lady Railsplitters' 6.5 shooting percentage is last in the conference. Brevard is next at 6.8 percent.
- Lundy (Pinckney, Mich.) has played in all 12 of Lincoln Memorial's matches (nine starts) in goal and is tied for sixth in the conference with 53 saves. After a slow start to the year, she has allowed exactly one goal in four consecutive games and compiled a .870 save percentage over that span.
- The Lady Railsplitters are in the midst of playing six of their final eight matches away from the LMU Soccer Complex.
Notes on the Trojans:
- Since starting the season 6-1 overall and 3-0 in SAC play, including a 2-0 win over second-place Wingate, Anderson has gone 1-4-1— all against SAC foes. That one win came against third-place Lenoir-Rhyne. Overall, they are seventh out of 12 teams in the SAC.
- Tina Shakes leads the team with nine goals, which is fourth among SAC players. Six of those occurred in four nonconference games, while only three have come in SAC play across nine matches.
- Alaina Gay has scored four goals on the year for the Trojans. Lyssa Engle is third on the team with three. Six other Trojans have scored one goal apiece.
- Shakes' three conference goals rank first among Anderson attackers. No other Trojan has scored more than one goal in conference play.
- Anderson's seven shutouts are tied for third in the SAC. Abby Helm has recorded five of those, and her .820 save percentage ranks fifth among SAC goalkeepers.
- Anderson has averaged 14.3 shots (6.6 SOG) and 1.69 goals per game, which rank eighth and fifth in the conference, respectively. But the Trojans have been efficient when they do take shots—their 11.8% shooting percentage is tied for third in the SAC.
Series History:
- Lincoln Memorial leads the all-time series 4-2-1, including 3-2-1 as SAC foes. Anderson has won two of the past three matchups, but the Lady Railsplitters have never lost to the Trojans in Harrogate.
