Notes on the Lady Railsplitters:
- Lincoln Memorial's 7-0 defeat at Wingate Saturday was its worst loss since also losing 7-0 at Tusculum to open the 2002 season. The Bulldogs put on an offensive display as they raced to a 5-0 lead by halftime. Kimmi Moore led the way with two goals and an assist. Five other Bulldogs also joined in on the scoring barrage.
- Tuesday's match is just Lincoln Memorial's third true road game of the season. The team is in the midst of playing six of its final eight matches away from the LMU Soccer Complex.
- Lincoln Memorial is tied for ninth in the South Atlantic Conference with three points with Newberry and Coker. All three teams share a similar 1-4 record, but both Newberry and Coker hold tiebreakers over LMU.
- The Lady Railsplitters are struggling to find offensive production this season, as they have only scored three goals in eight games on 83 shots. The three goals are last in the conference.
Melissa Carpenter (Jacksonville, Fla.),
Caroline Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Kaitlyn Tisch (Tacoma, Wash.) have accounted for one goal apiece.
Alyssa Berry (St. Joseph, Mich.) is the only other player to total a point this season; she assisted on Tisch's goal against Brevard.
- Lincoln Memorial was blanked for the third consecutive match and fifth time in their last seven. Following Saturday's contest, Lincoln Memorial has now gone 300 consecutive minutes without scoring dating back to Carpenter's 61st-minute goal at Queens on September 17.
- The Lady Railsplitters have yet to tally multiple goals in a match this season and, dating back to the 2015 campaign, have gone 12 consecutive matches without doing so. The last time they scored multiple goals was a 4-1 win at Coker on October 17, 2015.
- Lincoln Memorial is averaging 10.4 shots per match, good for 10th out of 12 teams in the SAC. But the Lady Railsplitters' 3.6 shooting percentage is the lowest mark in the SAC by a wide margin. Brevard is next with an 8.8 percent mark.
- The Lady Railsplitters off to their worst start to a season since the 2002 team opened with a 1-7-1 mark. That team rebounded to finish 7-11-1. The worst start in school history was by the inaugural 1994 team, who began the season 1-8-1. They also rebounded by winning the final six games to finish 7-8-1.
Notes on the Valkyries:
- Converse has won five of six matches since starting the season 1-2-1. Its only loss in that span came at the hands of Mount Olive, who scored with 38 seconds remaining in double overtime to win 1-0.
- The recent hot streak has elevated Converse College into a five-way tie for second place in Conference Carolinas with nine points. The Valkyries have outscored opponents 14-2 over their past six games.
- The Valkyries are 4-1 at home this season, including 1-1 in conference play. Their lone home loss was 3-2 in overtime against Barton.
- Converse is 0-2-1 in matches that have extended past 90 minutes. They are 6-1 in matches that have ended in regulation.
- The Valkyries' 191 shots (19.1 per game) and 93 shots on goal lead Conference Carolinas. Their 20 goals are second-best behind Pfeiffer's 21.
- Junior midfielders Nicole Doolittle and Sara Dorsett lead the team with four goals apiece, good for a third-place tie in Conference Carolinas. Doolittle has also added two assists—her 10 points are tied for fourth in the conference. Her 17 shots on goal also lead the conference.
- Junior defender Emily Barry is tied for the conference lead in assists with four.
- Goalkeeper Josee Waitrovich is second in the conference with a .823 save percentage. Her and fellow goalkeeper Mariah Rowdy have three wins apiece, tied for fourth-best in the conference. They have combined for four shutouts, best in the conference.
Series History:
- Lincoln Memorial and Converse have matched up three times since the 1999 season. LMU leads the series 2-1. The Lady Railsplitters won 4-0 in 1999 and 2-0 in 2000, while the Valkyries returned the favor in 2015 with a 3-2 victory.
- Converse scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation to steal last season's matchup at the LMU Soccer Complex. The Lady Railsplitters held a 2-1 lead until Darby Boyd scored the equalizer in the 89
th minute. Then, with 30 seconds left in regulation, an LMU defender attempted to clear a ball out of the box, but it deflected off of a Converse player and into the net for an own goal.
- Tuesday's match marks the first time the two teams have played in Spartanburg since September 28, 1999. The matches in 2000 and 2015 were played in Harrogate.
- Lincoln Memorial attempted 48 shots in the 2000 meeting; tied for second-most in program history.
