Quick Hits: -The Lady Railsplitters swept a doubleheader from the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in Nashville on Wednesday evening, grinding out a 5-3 extra-innings victory in game one before unloading in an 11-2 five-inning win in game two.
Jennifer Moose (Statesville, N.C.) hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning and
Samantha Smith (Knoxville, Tenn.) stranded the potential tying run at second base in the home half of that inning to help Lincoln Memorial secure the win in game one. The home run ball played a key role in the Lady Railsplitters' run-rule win in game two as well, as
Lindsay Cecil (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and
Allie Jones (Ooltewah, Tenn.) both hit homers and combined for seven RBI in the victory.
-Smith made her best start of the season in the Lady Railsplitters' game-two win at Trevecca, allowing just one earned run and three hits in the complete game. The Knoxville, Tenn. native walked three but struck out five to improve to 1-0 on the season. She also picked up a save in game one by holding the Trojans without a hit over an inning of relief work.
-The Lady Railsplitters currently hold the distinction of leading the South Atlantic Conference in hit by pitches, as LMU batters have been plunked eight times in nine games.
Savannah Couch (Colonial Heights, Va.) has accounted for four of those. It should come as no surprise then that Couch leads the Lady Railsplitters in on-base percentage with a .517 clip. But she is getting it done in other ways, too, as she has a team-high 10 hits with a double, a triple and five RBI.
-Moose has already exceeded her home run total from the entire 2015 season in just 28 official at-bats in 2016. The Statesville, N.C. native hit two runs last season, but she connected on her third of this season in LMU's game-one win at Trevecca. Moose enters the weekend sporting a .286 batting average with five RBI, five walks and two stolen bases. As a team, the Lady Railsplitters have already seen five players go deep this season. Only eight players accounted for home runs for last season's team.
-Since making her debut against Tuskegee last weekend, Cecil has notched at least one hit in five of her first six games. She went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and a career-high four RBI in game two at Trevecca. She enters the weekend carrying a .316 batting average.

Notes on the Flying Fleet:-Erskine fell to 4-4 on the season after getting shut down over a two-game set at Georgia Regents on Wednesday. The Flying Fleet lost game one 2-0 before being blanked again in a 3-0 loss in game two. Erskine played one South Atlantic Conference opponent earlier this season, dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Wingate on February 6.
-The Flying Fleet are batting .291 as a team with a .359 on-base percentage. Erskine has displayed at least a little bit of offensive firepower with six doubles, six home runs and a .408 slugging percentage through the season's first eight games. Jacquie Hill paces the Flying Fleet with a .444 batting average, eight hits and five RBI. Chandler Crawford has nine hits this season and three have been home runs. Reagan Davis leads Erskine in RBI with eight, as she has produced a double and a home run with a .333 batting average.
-Erskine has wreaked havoc on the bases this season, as the Flying Fleet have 23 stolen bases on 24 attempts. Sydney Smith leads the team with five, while Davis and Brittany Rhinehardt have four apiece. By comparison, the Lady Railsplitters are 8-for-9 on stolen base attempts this season.
-Candace Fitch and Danica Newton lead the Erskine pitching staff, which is currently carrying a 3.83 team earned run average. Fitch has thrown a team-leading 27 1/3 innings, compiling a 3-2 record, 15 strikeouts and 10 earned runs allowed over that span. Newton hasn't been nearly as effective over her 17 innings of work, giving up 13 earned runs with 10 strikeouts in accumulating a 1-1 win-loss record.

-The Saints are batting .286 as a team, as they have been completely hit or miss early in the season. Limestone logged nine hits in games against Brevard and St. Andrews, but has been held to three hits or less in two other games. Bailie Maybry holds the team lead for RBI with six, as she is hitting .375 with two doubles and two triples.
-Josie Weber is fronting the Limestone pitching staff, which has seen three different pitchers throw at least 10 innings already this season. Weber tossed a perfect game against St. Andrews to lower her ERA to 1.23 and improve to 2-1 on the season. She has struck out 16 and allowed just 12 hits over 14 2/3 innings. Courtney Smith is 1-0 with 10 strikeouts and six earned runs allowed over 10 innings of work, while Klinnin Carson is 1-1 with a 7.15 ERA in 11 1/3 innings.
