DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Lady Railsplitters (4-13) face the defending NCAA Division II National Champions on Wednesday when they travel to Dahlonega, Ga. for a doubleheader against the 22nd-ranked North Georgia Nighthawks (15-4). Here's everything you need to know:

Quick Hits:
-The Lady Railsplitters lost three of four games at the Mid-South Classic this past weekend in Spartanburg, S.C., beating UNC Pembroke 4-3 in the opener before falling to Lander 6-1, Augusta 6-5 and Southern Indiana 10-6. In the loss to Augusta, Lincoln Memorial served up six runs in the top of the first inning and nearly rallied all the way back thanks to Jennifer Moose's (Statesville, N.C.) three-hit day. However, the Lady Railsplitters left nine stranded on base, including the potential tying run in the sixth inning. Against Southern Indiana, Lincoln Memorial led 5-0, but the Screaming Eagles hit four home runs and scored 10 unanswered runs to power the come-from-behind victory.
-Lincoln Memorial continues to struggle at the plate with runners in scoring position. As a team, the Lady Railsplitters are hitting .221 with runners in scoring position and .231 with runners on base. Those numbers stand in stark contrast to LMU's .283 clip with the bases empty. The Lady Railsplitters have left 118 runners on base this season, an average of nearly seven per game.
-The late innings have plagued the Lady Railsplitters this season, as opponents have outscored Lincoln Memorial 17-8 in the fifth and 14-2 in the sixth. The Lady Railsplitters have been unable to muster up any late-game magic, either, as they are 0-10 when trailing after four innings this season.
-Savannah Couch (Colonial Heights, Va.) has reached base safely in 12 straight games for the Lady Railsplitters. Couch currently leads the team and ranks second in the South Atlantic Conference with a .548 on-base percentage. She has been hit by a pitch 12 times and recorded four stolen bases. Couch posted her second three-hit game of the season in the loss to Southern Indiana to push her batting average to .391, the 15th-best mark in the SAC.

Notes on the Nighthawks:
-North Georgia opened the season with four straight losses in the Peach Belt/Gulf South Southern Softball Showdown, which were already half as many losses as the Nighthawks had during last season's run to winning the first National Championship in school history. But since that sluggish start, North Georgia has reeled off 15 consecutive wins, most recently sweeping all five games at the Mid-South Classic this past weekend. The Nighthawks capped the weekend with a 7-0 win over No. 7 Catawba.
-The Nighthawks are led by right-handed flamethrower Courtney Poole, the reigning National Player of the Year. Poole is already off to an impressive start in 2016, as she is 14-0 with a 0.50 earned run average and a ridiculous 136 strikeouts in 84 innings. Opponents are hitting just .142 against the 12-time AstroTurf Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.
-Offensively, the Nighthawks are hitting .343 and slugging .521 with 32 doubles, seven triples and 14 home runs. Meredith Heyer leads North Georgia with a .561 batting average, nine doubles, four home runs, 23 RBI and a .588 on-base percentage.  Stephanie Hartness is hitting .459 with a team-leading 28 hits and two triples. She has struck out just one time in 61 at-bats while also recording five stolen bases. Jessica Finch is also a player to watch, as she is sporting a .382 batting average with six doubles, 14 RBI and five stolen bases.
-The Nighthawks have been a menace on the bases so far this season, successfully stealing on 36 of their 43 attempts. Heyer leads North Georgia in that category with six stolen bases, as she is one eight Nighthawks with at least two steals.

Series History:
-North Georgia is 5-2 all-time against Lincoln Memorial, but the Lady Railsplitters split doubleheaders with the Nighthawks in both 2013 and 2014.
-North Georgia beat the Lady Railsplitters twice last season in Dahlonega, winning both games 6-0. Poole threw a three-hitter in game one with 14 strikeouts and allowed only one hit over seven innings in game two.
