LMU SOFTBALL CENTRAL: Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Lady Railsplitters (4-15) look to snap a five-game losing skid on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Louisville, Ky. for a nonconference doubleheader against the Bellarmine Knights (10-10). Here's everything you need to know:

Quick Hits:

-The Lady Railsplitters' offense was held completely in check by reigning National Player of the Year Courtney Poole on Wednesday in Dahlonega, Ga., as Lincoln Memorial dropped two games to the 13th-ranked North Georgia Nighthawks. The Lady Railsplitters were limited to three hits in game one, which North Georgia won 6-0, before being held to three hits again in a 4-0 loss in game two. With that sweep, Lincoln Memorial fell to 1-9 in its last 10 games.
-Sunday's games end a stretch of 21 straight played outside of Harrogate to open the 2016 season, as the Lady Railsplitters finally make their Dorothy Neely Field debut on Wednesday when they host King for a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
-The Lady Railsplitters must find a way to create some offense. Through 19 games, Lincoln Memorial is batting .245 with a .326 on-base percentage and a .355 slugging percentage, ranking in the bottom third of the South Atlantic Conference in all three of those categories. The Lady Railsplitters have produced double-digit hits in just three of their 19 appearances this season, but have had seven games with five hits or less.
-Savannah Couch's (Colonial Heights, Va.) streak of consecutive games reaching base was snapped at 13 in game two against North Georgia, but the sophomore utility player is still leading the Lady Railsplitters and ranked second in the South Atlantic Conference with a .522 on-base percentage. Her .365 batting average is the best on the team and the 22nd-best mark in the league. Jennifer Moose (Statesville, N.C.) is second for LMU in both of those categories with a .316 batting average and a .385 on-base percentage.

Notes on the Knights:
-Bellarmine went 3-3 last weekend in the Mid-South Classic in Duncan, S.C. The Knights beat Lander, Armstrong State and Queens, and lost to Wingate, Catawba and North Georgia.
-The Knights enter Sunday's doubleheader with a .276/.414/.351 slash line (batting average/slugging percentage/on-base percentage). Bellarmine strikes out rather frequently with 108 whiffs in 544 official at-bats, but has flashed some decent power numbers with 27 doubles and 16 home runs. Most of those home runs were hit early in the season, though, as the Knights have gone yard just four times in the last eight games.
-Kelly Ely and Ally Foster are carrying the Bellarmine offensive attack. Foster is batting .377 and slugging .836 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 13 RBI, while Kelly is hitting .375 with two doubles, three homers, 13 RBI and three stolen bases. Marlee Tevis and Katie Stemper are also hitting better than .300 this season, as Tevis (.317) has 19 hits with four doubles, five home runs and a team-leading 15 RBI, while Stamper (.314) has four doubles and a home run.
-Opponents are hitting just .245 against the Bellarmine pitching staff, which has accumulated a 2.75 earned run average through 20 games. Foster is fronting that effort with a 10-5 record and 111 strikeouts over 100 innings pitched. She has thrown 10 complete games and posted a 1.26 ERA. She is the only pitcher on the Knights' staff with an ERA below 5.00, as Tevis is 0-2 with a 5.81 ERA in just six appearances.
-The Knights aren't very dangerous on the bases, as they are just 9-for-18 on stolen base attempts this season. Kelly leads the team with three steals, while Tevis and Rachel Fox have two steals apiece.

Series History:
-The Lady Railsplitters sport an 11-8 record against Bellarmine, but the Knights have won two of the last three meetings. Lincoln Memorial was limited to six hits and fell 5-0 to Bellarmine last season in Columbus, Ga. The Lady Railsplitters split a twinbill at Bellarmine in 2013, losing game one 3-0 before bouncing back with a 4-1 win in game two.
-Lincoln Memorial is 6-4 all-time on the road in the series.
