Quick Hits:
-Lincoln Memorial lost its fourth straight South Atlantic Conference series and fell to 4-10 over its last 14 games by dropping two of three games at Coker last weekend. In game one, the Cobras scattered 15 hits and scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to power a 9-1 win. The Railsplitters bounced back in game two, earning a 6-4 win behind a strong start from
Ethan Elliott (Knoxville, Tenn.), who became just the fourth pitcher in program history to win nine games in a season, and a stellar relief effort from
Dominic Morabito (Vienna, Va.). But Coker claimed the series with a 4-0 win in the rubber game, as the Railsplitters were shutout for just the second time this season and first time since March 12.
-
Danny Valdez (Orlando, Fla.) has reached base safely in 13 consecutive games, while
Logan Augustine (Urbandale, Iowa) has accomplished that feat in 12 straight games. Valdez and Augustine are tied for the team lead in walks with 29 apiece, while Valdez carries the team's highest on-base percentage (.478) among hitters with at least 100 plate appearances. Augustine - ranked third on the team with a .342 batting average - has multiple hits in five of his last 10 games, but went just 1 for 9 in the Coker series.
-The Railsplitters and Cavaliers were slated to play way back on February 16 in the Lamar Hennon Field opener, but a heavy accumulation of snow and rain forced that game to be cancelled.
-Freshman right-hander
Pete Pratti (Knoxville, Tenn.) is likely to get the nod on the mound for the Railsplitters. Pratti, who has made nine appearances with four starts this season, is 2-1 with 12 strikeouts and a 6.75 earned run average over 24 innings of work. Pratti turned in his longest start of his freshman season in his last appearance on April 13, allowing six hits and four runs over six innings in a no decision against Trevecca Nazarene.

Notes on the Cavaliers:
-Virginia-Wise enters Wednesday's contest hoping to snap a six-game losing streak, as the Cavaliers are coming off of a four-game weekend sweep at the hands of West Virginia State. Virginia-Wise lost all four games of that series by scores of 6-4, 15-7, 6-5 and 16-7 to fall to 5-15 in Mountain East Conference play.
-The Cavaliers are a middle-of-the-road offensive unit sporting a .290 batting average, a .377 slugging percentage and a .375 on-base percentage. They are ranked third in the MEC in scoring with 5.9 runs per game. Pitching and fielding have been major areas of concern for Virginia-Wise, though. The Cavs' pitching staff is carrying a sky-high 6.22 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP (walks + hits per inning pitched) while allowing 11.24 hits per nine innings. The Cavs are also ranked 231st out of 254 Division II teams in fielding percentage with a .939 clip.
-Four everyday players are hitting above .300 for Virginia-Wise, a quartet led by Ben Coffman and Ty Lighton. Coffman is batting .329 with a team-leading 47 hits, 16 doubles and 38 RBI, while Lighton is hitting .342 with 46 hits (all singles) and 16 RBI. Steven Klaiber is hitting .315 with nine doubles and a team-high four home runs to go along with 32 RBI. Tye Marshall is batting .307 with six doubles, two triples and 18 RBI. Marcus Elmore is a dangerous runner, as he leads the Cavs with 13 stolen bases, but is hitting just .256.
