HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's tennis team picked up their fourth-straight win as they blasted Union College Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex. The 4-0 start is the best start since the 2011-12 season.

Union came into the match with only five players, so the Lady Railsplitters began the match already ahead 2-0 after Union defaulted the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles flights.

Marta Pinol (Tivenys, Spain) and Roksolana Prudyvus (Lviv, Ukraine) had an easy time at the No. 2 flight, cruising to the 8-0 win over UC's Carla Delgado and Brittany Lamb. At No. 1, the Canadian duo of Priscilla Bulandres (Markham, Ontario) and Kiersten Waugh (London, Ontario) went up early and held off a late challenge by Erika Broady and Ljiljana Pajcin to win 8-6 and put LMU ahead 4-0.

In singles action, Pinol coasted past Lamb 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 to give LMU the match victory while Julia Loos (Frankfurt, Germany) won over Delgado 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Union's lone win of the day came at No. 1, where Pajcin defeated Johanna Delisse 6-4, 6-0. Then LMU picked up a pair of 6-0 wins in the final two flights to take the match by an 8-1 margin. First, Angelica Solano (Bogotá, Colombia) defeated Broady at No. 5 and then Javiera Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile) easily handled Dotson at No. 4.

Next up for the women's tennis team is the home SAC opener on Saturday vs. nationally ranked Wingate. The Bulldogs will enter the match ranked ninth in the Southeast Region and 45th in the nation in the latest ITA rankings. Following that, the Lady Railsplitters host local rival UVa-Wise Sunday morning.
